It’s Our 5 & 15 (and My Forever Man Crush)

It’s Our 5 & 15 (and My Forever Man Crush)

I know occasionally obsess over celebrities like a teenage girl because I can and just as a teenage girl would say “it’s a free country!”. My first celebrity crush was none other than Joey McIntyre from New Kids on the Block…yes this guy. Judge me now. Get over it.  And my latest is Jensen Ackles from Supernatural. YES, THIS GUY! And again, go ahead and judge me, I’m SO over it….yes, I know it’s a TV show with a fandom targeted to teenage girls….. In the past my man crushes have also been Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Sully Erna (from Godsmack) and Jon Bon Jovi. Even once for a bit it a lady crush on Angelina Jolie (but the world kind of collectively did that so…..).  Perhaps this isn’t the best place to gush all about my celebrity crushes, and I’m not going to continue with that, because the actual reason for this post is to gush about my husband and why I think he’s the most amazing man in the world. Yes, I know this is a blog on my business website and is 99.9% about our radiant clients and their transformation. It’s also a bit about my life and every so often I think it’s important to remind you all the I too am very human and have similar issues and triumphs in my life that you do. So on this day, in celebration of the anniversary of our 5th year being married and our 15th year together, I have something to publicly say and to share:  To My Dearest Lover, Keeper of Secrets, Partner in Life & Best Friend,  For the last 15 years of my life, and really if we’re honest, the past 18 years of my life, you have been my constant companion. Well before you were ever my husband, fiance, boyfriend or secret lover, you were my best friend. You was the person I could turn to when I had a terrible day and you’d have the perfect thing to say, or the right joke to ease it up. On the best days you’d celebrate right along with me. And regardless of the day, there was always a Super Robby Hug to go with it all.  Almost anything I’ve ever asked of you, you’ve done and that’s included everything from buying me things I needed  like tampons, to the things that feed my soul like the very camera I create so much magic with. Even the things I don’t ask you to do, but need to be done, like replacing the water main in our yard, fixing my car or remodeling my studio.

You laugh at most of my jokes, even though it was long ago decided the funniest person you know is your BFF, Eric, and not our mutual friend and professional comedian, Kyle, but I digress. I’m slowly getting over it :).  You were there with me the night my Dad passed and every single night thereafter. You let me cry and scream and grieve however I needed to. All the way up to agreeing to let me quit my corporate job and start my own photography business that now helps change the lives of others. You’re just that kind of guy. Every one of the women that have come through my studio, even if they don’t know it, should thank you for the dedication you’ve put into it, into me and ultimately into them. You are also a part of their successes.  You were there the day we picked up Bernie from the airport and welcomed him into our family and there the day we made the decision to let him rest in peace.  You were there through all the years of raising my daughter and stepped up to love, protect and help guide her as if she were your own.  You’ve held my hair for me many times when I’ve been sick (both from flu and from alcohol) and through wisdom teeth removal and ear surgery. Sickness and in health.  Your friendship has outlasted and been more solid, more genuine, more unconditional than any other friendship I’ve ever had with anyone ever. You will always be my best girlfriend and my favorite person to shop with.  I can always rely on you as my favorite coffee date and to read to me the latest Harry Potter book (15 days and counting!). Equally my favorite adventure date and the person I can rely on to drag me under water to observe the wonders of the ocean, and the one to convince me cave exploration is a good idea. And the one to say “yeah, it’s 2am, but let’s go up to the mountains and take pictures of the stars.” The times in my life I have been happiest, healthiest, laughed the hardest and loved the most have always been with you. For 15 years you’ve been my lover and the person most directly connected to my heart. My one true love. My soul mate.  As Harry Burns said “when you meet the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible”. Or as Christian reminds us “the greatest thing you’ll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return.”

These movie quotes are just a few of the cultural pieces that helped put language and visual expression to our relationship, to the excitement and realness of it all. We saw ourselves (and our happily ever after) in these characters and despite all my efforts to NOT love you (up until and including marrying another man and years later moving out and trying to move on with my life), I have always loved you. I just can’t quit you :).  It has always been you.  It will always be you.

You are my heart and my home.  You are my oldest friend.

You are my biggest champion.

I love you. Deeply, madly, truly.  After all this time.  And as Snape reminds us  “Always” Happy 5 & 15 Baby!!!! Love,Sara

So now if you’ll excuse me, this GORGEOUS man is in my bed and I must go ๐Ÿ™‚    ***Yes, I took these pictures. No, we do not and are not offering male boudoir.
