22 Oct How Do I Prepare For My Session?
How can I prepare for my upcoming shoot?
Getting ready for a photoshoot can be pretty overwhelming. We understand that. After all—it’s not every day that you do a boudoir shoot! It’s a special occasion and one that is both exciting and nerve-racking. We’re here to help. This week we’ll be giving you tips and advice to help you prepare for your Jezebel VonZephyr session. Earlier this week we tackled the big question of clothes and what to wear. Today we’ll be giving you some advice on how to prepare for your session beyond figuring out your wardrobe.
It’s not easy preparing mentally for a boudoir shoot. You’re about to be half-naked in front of people that you don’t know well. That takes a lot of courage! We love our clients because every woman who chooses to do a session with us is brave. We celebrate you and the decision you’ve made to come to us. We want your session to be memorable and magical and we’ll do everything we can to help you. There are also some things you can do ahead of time to prepare for your boudoir session.
-
Drink lots of water. This sounds cliche, we know. But when people are stressed they tend to get dehydrated faster. So one way to be kind and nurturing to yourself is to make sure you drink at least 50 ounces of water each day in the week leading up to your session. You’ll feel better and it will help to give you a healthy glow! What could be better than that?!
-
Do something nice for yourself. This could be anything that feels like a treat. Some clients have gotten a facial a few days before their session to make sure their skin looks ethereal. Others like to get a massage to help them relax. Another good idea is to get a manicure and/or pedicure. Having smooth hands or feet is something that’s important to some people and can help you feel like a goddess at your shoot.
-
Sleep well. We realize this is easier said than done–especially when there are nerves in the days leading up to a shoot! But the more sleep you can get the better. Try to get a solid 8 hours for at least the night or two leading up to your session. It can help you look your best in your photos. Plus feeling well-rested helps you to feel calm and in control because it’s one less thing you have to worry about.
-
Talk it out! If you’re feeling scared or nervous about your session you shouldn’t keep it bottled up. Trust us: these feelings are normal. We recommend that you talk about it with someone you trust! If you know a Brand Ambassador reach out to them because they’ve been exactly where you are and can help to calm your nerves and answer questions. The Jezebel VonZephyr team is also here to help if you have questions or need to talk. You can friend the team (Sara, Tiffany and Kaitlyn) on Facebook and chat with them privately about your questions or concerns. And if you haven’t done so already, join our private Facebook group. There you can post questions and chat with many women who have experienced exactly what you’re experiencing. The group is a positive and uplifting place to be and can help hype you up for your session.

Do some homework. In your style consultation you’ll be asked about your goals for your session and what you hope to get from it. This can be a hard question to answer if you haven’t seen many of our photos. Start by browsing our website so you can see our style and figure out what styles you love. Do you hope to do more glamour or boudoir? Do you love the light and airy photos or are you drawn to the darker, more moody styles? Do you want to wear a certain gown from the Client Closet or play under the blacklight? Looking at our photos will give you an idea of what your session may be like and get you excited for your upcoming shoot!
-
Take some time to reflect. In the days leading up to your session, it’s a good idea to think about what you want to get out of it. What is your why? What compelled you to book a session with Jezebel VonZephyr? How do you hope to feel once your session is complete? Journaling may help you clarify these questions. It can also help you to shed some of your nerves. Writing down your thoughts and feelings can also help you to feel more in control and allow you to come to the studio feeling more confident and with an open mind.

Breathe. Your session is going to be an incredible experience. Yes, you will feel some nerves. But we know that you are bigger than those nerves. So as you’re coming to the studio just remember to breathe and know that you are worthy and beautiful.
