13 Mar The Beauty of Black and White
Our goal at Jezebel VonZephyr is to help women shine. We want women to see themselves in a new light and embrace their myriad colors because they are glorious. We see women come to life during their shoots and start to see themselves as the dazzling multicolored, multi-faceted moonbeams that they are. Jezebel VonZephyr photos are filled with light, loveliness and lots of color.
…most of the time.
Sometimes, though? We can’t help but love a good black and white photo.
And we’ve fallen more in love with our black and white photos since moving into our new studio space. We couldn’t help it. The natural lighting is just too dreamy. The brick wall is too perfect of a backdrop. Our sets are just dying for a bit of dramatic flair. Our point? Our studio is perfect for black and white portraits.
Don’t get us wrong: we adore shooting multicolored dresses and rainbow-hued outfits. We can’t get enough! But we also see powerful and profound things in black and white photos.
With just those two colors we can see how fiercely a woman’s eyes sparkle in the dark. We can appreciate how the light curves around the hips and thighs. We can celebrate the way she bites her lip or caresses her neck. We can capture a look of peace or acceptance that sometimes gets lost amongst colors.
There’s something truly classic about a black and white portrait. There’s a timeless feel to the photos. It’s a little like magic: a quiet moment, quick look, small gesture or fleeting feeling captured in a classic medium. Black and white photos are the ones that continue to captivate year after year because they’re so timeless.
Black and white photos give women permission to breathe a little more deeply and fall in love with themselves a little more. They allow women to see themselves in sumptuous, sensual ways. The medium captures a side of women that they rarely–or never!–get to see.
We want women to see themselves in a new way. When a client walks into our studio, we can see how captivating and special she is. Throughout the session and reveal we help her to see herself in those ways. Sometimes that’s with photos filled with vibrant colors and bright lights. But we also hope that she can also fall in love with her silhouette against a shadowy brick wall or the ferocious spark in her eyes highlighted in a dramatic portrait. Black and white photos are just one of the ways we make magic at Jezebel VonZephyr. Book your session to see what we can create together.
