13 Aug Client Feature Friday: Owning Her Jezebel Journey
Jezebel VonZephyr works with all kinds of women, from the suburbs of Seattle to all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond. We love connecting with each client, hearing her stories and capturing her unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. Every Friday we feature one of our clients and share a little about her.
Today we turn our spotlight on another of our Brand Ambassadors. She proudly calls Tacoma her home and has had two Jezebel VonZephyr sessions. She originally decided to visit our studio because she was called a jezebel, so she decided to run with it. That one decision changed her life, so let’s hear more about this lovely Belle’s journey!
Age: I’m 35 this month!
Where are you from? I was raised in Utah, now I’m a resident of Tacoma, Washington!
What is your theme song? I sing “waking up is hard to do” to the tune of “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do” every morning in my bathroom. Haha. I’d say this changes with the chapters of my life. The most recent song to really captivate me and get replayed for days was Amanda Palmer’s “Drowning in the Sound.”
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself? Introvert, growth-oriented (is that cheating?), and mom.
Is this your first Jezebel shoot? If not, how many have you had? I’m getting ready to go in for my third session!
Why did you decide to book a session with JVZ? The first time was purely because I was being a smart ass. I’d been called a Jezebel by another woman and sent a stream of links to videos about “overcoming the Jezebel spirit,” and I thought it seemed like the right time to reach out to Jezebel’s own ladies for a session. I asked my Facebook friends if anyone wanted to do it with me and five of my friends jumped in, too. My second shoot was so much more relaxed. I had been a part of the JVZ community for a while at that point and relieved myself of a fair bit of body shame, but I wasn’t feeling like myself and needed a pick me up so I became a Brand Ambassador and did the program and a second session.
How did you feel before your shoot? The first time: I was nervous. A little self-critical. Shy. Also excited to spend the day with friends. My second session? Nothing but joy!
How was your session? What was your favorite part? First, it was a delight to get to know the ladies in the studio. Second, it was very comfortable. Sara and Tiffany are both so bubbly and funny. They make it easy to get naked with a small audience. Both times the hours blew by!
What was your favorite look from your session? Why? In both sessions, it was my red sofa set. The first time I took my now husband’s hat with me without telling him. The outfit was so simple and “me.” The second time I did a similar look in different pieces and I love the two side by side.
How are you feeling since your session? Really good. The best part is yeah, these incredible photos that are powerful, fun, and sexy, but also…the community that comes with it. What a fucking light in my life to see women supporting women all the time! I also think that because I did the first session I knew how valuable the second would be to me, and because I’ve done them already I’m comfortable taking my current body that is changing a lot back again.
Did you bring anything special with you to the studio? Why? My husband’s hat the first time, and my spoon collection the second. I love that the studio encourages us to show our personalities!
How was your reveal? I’m such an awkward person. Sara and Kaitlyn were so patient with me! I went in the first time thinking I’d just select a few photos and was amazed to find that I actually wanted most of them. Culling down by half the second time was so hard. It’s fun to see that you want to keep images of yourself.
