23 Nov Session Tips & Tricks (By Your Friend Kaitlyn!)
Hello, friends! Your friendly Jezebel Director of Operations, Kaitlyn, here! I’m taking over the blog today because I have a big job. I’m charged with keeping the studio running. I coordinate chaos and help women on their Jezebel journeys. It’s a pretty amazing opportunity!
I do my best to keep my shit together and help clients out as much as possible. But I can’t do it alone. So today I wanted to share some tips and tricks to help you through the booking process, session, and reveal.
I want you to have the most amazing experience possible but I rely on clients doing what they need to do in order to get the most from their session. In the immortal words of Jerry Maguire: help me help you!
So what do you need to do? I’m glad you asked!
Check your email!!!
Honestly, this is probably the best piece of advice I can give you. If you remember nothing else from this post I hope you remember this. Check. Your. Email. Your Jezebel journey really begins in your inbox. You’ll get all of the information you’ll ever need in emails from me.
I respond to inquiries, questions, bookings, and orders through email–it’s a huge part of my job. I want to be as transparent and helpful as possible so I send out a lot of important information about pricing, contracts, appointment reminders and order confirmations.
If you have a question about your session and you’ve been corresponding with me? Check your email.
Unsure of what time your session is? Check your email.
Need to know when your payment plan is scheduled for? Check your email.
All pertinent information is going to come to your inbox, especially once you’ve booked your session. So please PLEASE check your inbox (and Spam folder) to see what goodies I’ve sent you!
Talk to me!
As the Director of Operations, I’m the woman you want to talk to. Seriously. I’m the master of the behind-the-scenes chaos and have all the information you need. Sara takes your amazing photos and Tiffany makes you look out-of-this-world amazing. They’re both absolutely incredible at what they do, so my job is to let them focus on their gifts and deal with literally everything else.
So please don’t ask Sara questions–she’ll just refer you to me and be annoyed that you didn’t talk to me first.
And definitely do NOT talk to Sara if you’ve asked me a question but didn’t like the answer I gave you. She develops the rules and policies and I carry them out. Going to her after hearing something you don’t like will not end well.
Get vaccinated.
We’re in a pandemic and doing our best to protect ourselves, our loved ones and especially you, our clients. You must be vaccinated in order to come into the Jezebel VonZephyr studio. If you don’t plan to get the Covid vaccine and you book an appointment, know that there will be monetary consequences, so I wouldn’t recommend even trying to book. (You will not be refunded your session retainer if you book and are not vaccinated, so you’ll be out a decent chunk of money.) You can find our full policy on our FAQs page.
Give a little grace.
I do my best to answer all emails and inquiries within two business days. (And please note that I don’t work on weekends, so if you send me a message on Friday night or over the weekend, it will take longer to get back to you!) That being said, being the Queen of Coordinating Chaos is a big job with a lot of different things that need my attention. I have emails to answer, orders to fulfill, Sara to keep happy, dogs to wrangle, and naked ladies to put in albums and calendars–it’s a lot! Please don’t email or call and expect an answer back immediately. I might be able to help you in a short amount of time, but that may not always be the case. So please be patient and understand that I’ll do my best to help and support you all along the way.
I want to also note that this rule also applies to Sara and Tiffany. If you message or email them, they may or may not be able to get back to you right away because they have professional obligations to attend to, empires to build, future leaders to inspire, kids and pets to attend to, and lives to live in between their time at the studio. Basically we’re all busy women–I’m sure you are, too! Please give us grace and we’ll do the same for you threefold.
Be patient when it comes to your products!
One of the questions I get most frequently is “when will I get my album/canvas/stuff?” I get it! You look so damn hot in your photos and you want to have your product in hand to gaze at said hotness. Getting an album or canvas in the mail feels like Christmas morning–it’s so exciting!
I know you can’t wait…but you must. There is only so much that I can do on my end.
Your products are ordered after your final payment is made and I get your selections, which are things that take time! I usually end up waiting on clients’ orders, so if you want things to move fast you need to get me your product orders promptly–nothing can be done until I hear what you want!
Once I order your products it takes a little bit for them to be made and shipped to me. Then I need to package and ship it to you. It’s a whole process.
So long answer short: you will receive your product up to 30 days after you make your product selections and let me know what you want. Make sure you keep that in mind if you’re planning on gifting something to yourself or a loved one. Plan ahead. Getting your products in hand takes time. Thank you for your patience on this matter.
Prep for your session!
I share this tip to help you look and feel your best when you’re at your session. We will do everything we can to help you look and feel like a goddess with the powers of Thor and Wonder Woman combined, but you have to do a couple things, too. Make sure you come to the studio feeling fresh and clean. I will send you some tips to help you prep before your session (so again: make sure you check your email!!) so these may sound familiar, but they are worth repeating.
Practice some self-care before you step into the studio. What I mean is that you should treat yourself to a long, hot bath or shower the night before (or day of) your session. It will help you to feel relaxed and amazing!
You should also pack up anything you want to bring to the studio before the morning of your session. Grab your suitcase or bag the week before and start gathering anything you want to bring. While you’re doing that, double check your clothes and underwear to make sure that they are clean and ready to shine. You want to feel your best in front of the camera and freshly laundered lingerie definitely helps you to feel fresh and sexy!
I want you to feel like a glowing goddess during and after your Jezebel session. Hopefully my tips and tricks will help you to prepare and make the best of your shoot and beyond! As the Director of Operations/Queen of Coordinated Chaos I’ll do my best to help you have the best time ever. Because, just like the rest of the Jezebel team, I want to help you shine!
