21 Mar Client Feature Friday: “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength”

Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on womxn of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.
Our client feature Friday this week originally comes from Snohomish! Our magical, honest Belle loves the rain, the experience of enjoying the beauty of every season (though especially fall, which is her favorite) and the amazing food available in her new hometown.
After winning a session at ECCC, this beautiful soul reclaimed her femininity, discovered feelings of empowerment and took home the knowledge that her uniqueness is a strength ♥
Where are you from? Where do you live now? What’s your favorite thing about where you live?
I was born and raised in Washington. I grew up in the lovely town of Snohomish and now reside in city of Lynnwood. What I enjoy about living in Washington is the beautiful rainy weather and that we get to experience the joy of every season.
Fall is my favorite! What I love about Lynnwood is that I can get amazing food anytime I want!
What are some of your favorite songs/artists? Do you have a theme song–if so, what is it and why does that song(s) resonate with you?
That’s a tough one… I grew up on Whitney Houston, Mariah Carrie, Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion.
I guess if I had a theme song It would be a cover of the Whitney Houston song,
“ I Didn’t Know My Own Strength”
by Andrea Foustini. I’ve gone through a lot of tough things in my life that could have broken me.
I not only made it through but thrived!

What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Magic, Family, Honesty
Is this your first Jezebel session? If not, how many have you had and in either instance, what was your favorite part?
Yes it is my first session! I loved not only taking the photos, but getting to know the staff. They made me feel so comfortable and empowered the minute I walked in the studio!

What made you want to have a boudoir session and what made you choose Jezebel as your studio?
I had heard from a best friend of mine that they had a demon trap painted on their floor from one of my favorite tv shows– Supernatural!
So I already knew they were too cool for school. But it is really is the amazing people who work there that draw you in and make you want to get in front of the camera!
What were your expectations going into the session and was the experience different or as you expected and how?
I went into the session wanting to embrace my post motherhood body. After having twins and then a single, it has changed a ton. So I wanted to claim back the beauty of my body. And that is exactly what I did! I went into this crazy zone, where I relaxed and just had so much fun!

Tell me about your session–your favorite set? outfit? prop? moment? favorite studio piece you used/wore? What stood out the most?
My fave outfit and set was my neon yellow shirt that they helped me cut that said “Thick girls taste better” they paired it with an amazing necklace that went into a tummy belt and black thigh high boots. Along with some sparkling fishnets and matching neon bralette and underwear I brought from home. It went amazingly on their “girls, girls girls” set!
How did you feel about the guidance you received during the session?
They made me feel like a rock star! That I could do no wrong and that my body and who I was as a person was beautiful.
“It is such an intimate setting and having a photographer who helps you to feel in love with yourself is the best thing.”
They did great helping to pair what I brought with what they had at the studio and even asked my opinion and were honest with how they felt things would look. No words can express how grateful I am for their help!

Tell us about your hair styling/makeup application? How was your time in the chair? What did you really love?
Their makeup artist is amazing, I wish she could do it for me every day! I went into the studio wanting to look sexy, flawless, but also myself. She really listened to me and made it happen! I loved chatting with her and getting to hear her experiences as well as watching her make my dream look come to life! I only had her do my makeup this go around, but I have some crazy ideas for hair that I can’t wait to see her slay for my next time!
How do you feel JVZ managed your privacy and confidentiality, both of your images and of you during your time with us?
They did a fantastic job, helping me feel like I was in a safe space and respected. Privacy was not an issue as they had my back and thought about what I would need and my comfortability before I needed to ask.

How were you feeling leaving the studio and leading up to your photo reveal appointment?
I was so pumped and excited! It was a hard wait to see my photos as I believed real magic had been made between us!
How was your reveal appointment? What did you like the most about it? What did you take home with you?
My reveal appointment was so special. They had this slide show with a great track behind it. They then went through each photo with me and it was so cool to see the reality of what we had created. I honestly loved talking to them as much as seeing my photos as they felt like old friends! I took home some amazing photos and memories along with a new family photographer!

Have you had any lasting impact/perspective shifts since your appointment? If so, please share as much as you’re comfortable with.
It was so cool to see what some consider flaws in the body and view them as beautiful and have someone else call them beautiful too. This world is so hard on women and at Jezebel they take what the world calls weakness and turns it into your strength.
Other than “just do it”, what advice would you offer a friend interested in a session to book with Jezebel? What tips might you give? What were the best tips you received either from us or from others?
Find your reason for wanting to take the photos. I feel that if you go in with something in mind that makes you passionate you will get more out of your session. Do some of your own research for poses and try them on yourself at home seeing what angles make you feel sexy. Just be you. Go in wanting to highlight what makes you amazing and it will shine through your photos.

Anything else you’d like to share?
You guys are the best and I cannot wait to shoot with you again and again and again!
