an interview with jezebel's
director of operations
Have you ever wondered exactly who is on the other side of all of your phone calls, emails and style consultations? In the first of our monthly staff features, we’re sitting down with Kaitlyn – Jezebel’s Director of Operations!
What's your role at Jezebel and how long have you been part of the team?
I’m the Director of Operations for Jezebel aka Queen of all things behind the scenes. I’ve been with Sara/Jezebel for 9 years now!
Dream photoshoot (That you haven’t done yet)?
Someday I will have a shoot in a cozy cabin in the woods… bonus points if it has a library included.
Super cute/cozy inside photos, BOOKS, and some epic outdoor/woodsy stuff. Gah! Someday!
What's your favorite lingerie company?
Do you have a favorite piece? Why?
Hmmm…I’m dying to get my hands on some Thistle and Spire pieces. I love how fun and unique their pieces are.
I’m personally a big sucker for bodysuits. I’m pretty convinced you can pair almost any bodysuit with a pair of jeans or skirt to create an epic going out outfit!
What are you reading/playing/listening to right now?
I ALWAYS have my nose in a book. At the time of writing this, I’m listening to “The Bones Beneath My Skin” that’s “due” for book club tonight, and “Rebel Rising” I’m also rereading A Court of Mist and Fury for another book club, and Scythe and Sparrow for fun.
Once upon a time, I couldn’t read more than one book at a time… apparently that’s changing this year!
As far as music goes… I’m still shamelessly stuck in an endless Taylor Swift loop. I have a playlist of her entire catalog that plays on repeat in the car if I’m not doing an audiobook.
How do you spend your time away from the studio?
If I’m not at the studio, you can typically find me at home or off and running with my wonderful husband, Travis and our pack of dogs (Teddy, Sammi, and Leo). We spend a fair amount of time at Seattle sporting events, and finding fun new things to experience in our area.
If I’m not with my little family, it’s safe to say I’m adventuring with my amazing group of girlfriends. We love to craft, go to concerts, girl trips, book clubbing, fancy dinners out, or whatever nonsense one of us comes up with!
Do you love a certain aesthetic?
If so, what is it and why?
Not sure if this is any sort of official aesthetic, but I tend to like a pretty chill laid back vibe.
Don’t get me wrong, I do love a good wild time out and about!
But, when I’m at home I like things to be super comfy and cozy. I prioritize surrounding myself with things I love, and value comfort above most other things!
What/Who inspires you?
My beautiful friend, Sara. She has opened this wonderful space that is so deeply loved by many, myself included. She built Jezebel from the ground up by herself, and I am SO very proud of her. I am honored to be so lucky to not only call her my boss, but one of the most important people in my life.
Describe yourself in three adjectives
Weird, Loveable, Meticulous
What’s one item on your bucket list?
Run away for several months to Europe with my husband, and explore to our hearts content with an unlimited budget! I don’t like to say no to myself on vacation!
If you were given one superpower, what would it be?
Hmmm… I think flight. Make it easy to get anywhere and everywhere I wanna go. I used to think I’d love to read people’s thoughts, but now I strongly believe what other people think of me is NONE of my business!
Best piece of advice for someone interested in coming in for their first session?
JUST DO IT!!

Where do you see Jezebel going in the next ten years?
I always want all of the bigger and better things for Jezebel.
Maybe a new, much larger location? A secondary location? Traveling Jezebel? I don’t know where the next 10 years will take us, but I’m endlessly excited to be along for the ride!
