Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on womxn of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.
Our client feature Friday this week introduces us to a strong and powerful Belle who has a fondness for the geography of Washington State, Halestorm and the familiarity of her home in Tacoma. After being gifted a session from her bestie, she’s back for another go! Pull up a seat and read on as this amazing human tells us about how a second session reaffirmed the feelings of strength and beauty she felt the first time around ♥
Where are you from? Where do you live now? What’s your favorite thing about where you live?
I’ve lived in Tacoma my entire life. Mount Rainer is my first love. I love the geography of Washington State. The mountains, the trees and the water.
What are some of your favorite songs/artists? Do you have a theme song–if so, what is it and why does that song(s) resonate with you?
Halestorm, Guns and Roses, Garth Brooks. Theme song?
“I Like it Heavy”
Can’t really explain why. It just fits. So much of the Halestorm discography speaks to me as an adult.
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Strong, Powerful and A Presence.
Is this your first Jezebel session? If not, how many have you had and in either instance, what was your favorite part?
This is my second session. My favorite part each time is simply how they make me feel ♥
What made you want to have a boudoir session and what made you choose Jezebel as your studio?
I needed it. My bestie paid for my first session. She had done a session with you already and recommended it to me.
What were your expectations going into the session and was the experience different or as you expected and how?
I expected this session to be a celebration of my weight loss, but it turned out to be way more than just that.
Tell me about your session–your favorite set? outfit? prop? moment? favorite studio piece you used/wore? What stood out the most?
My favorite set was the first room I was in. I loved the window seat. I love that there are so many different things to do in each room! I still remember the bathtub during the first session. I climbed in before I got any instructions.
How did you feel about the guidance you received during the session?
It was helpful and supportive.
Tell us about your hair styling/makeup application? How was your time in the chair? What did you really love?
The consideration taken to show me though the makeup was something I really loved, even though I don’t normally wear it. The artist also listening to me about what I like and don’t like was really appreciated. I didn’t know a lot this aspect of the shoot and the hair and makeup artist was awesome at talking me through that too!
How do you feel JVZ managed your privacy and confidentiality, both of your images and of you during your time with us?
Completely consistent with my consents.
How were you feeling leaving the studio and leading up to your photo reveal appointment?
This is so hard to put into words. Beautiful and then excited!
How was your reveal appointment? What did you like the most about it? What did you take home with you?
It was awesome! Literally the first time I have ever seen myself as gorgeous. I keep reminding myself of that moment.
Have you had any lasting impact/perspective shifts since your appointment? If so, please share as much as you’re comfortable with.
I am still able to see my beauty. It’s been a hard road to be able to see it myself.
Other than “just do it”, what advice would you offer a friend interested in a session to book with Jezebel? What tips might you give? What were the best tips you received either from us or from others?
Be yourself. You do not have to show skin if you are not comfortable with it. (I say this because of all the conversations I’ve had with people). This is about celebrating yourself, not making yourself uncomfortable to please someone else.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I tell people about my sessions all the time. I encourage them to do it. My first session was the best birthday present I could get. It was so powerful. Getting to do it a second time was reaffirming. I’ll always encourage people to do a second session.
This client’s story really shows how magical a boudoir photoshoot can be in reclaiming our authentic selves. Her session with JVZ wasn’t just about taking beautiful photos; it was a familiar space where she could reaffirm the knowledge that she is a powerful and gorgeous being who deserves to take up the space she needs!
