22 Apr BodyTalks: Tummy Tuesday!
On Tuesdays, We Talk Tummies..
At Jezebel, we celebrate you. This encompasses every facet of who you are – who WE all are. We show you ways to see yourself through the lens of unconditional love, and we understand that some days it’s easy to appreciate ourselves, and other times it can be more of a challenge.
This is where we want to flip the script and really talk about what our bodies can do for us. Honest discussions can lead to acceptance, and acceptance can open our eyes to the possibilities of love.
Tuesdays at Jezebel are all about tummies! Each week we’ll be showcasing some of our favorite images where they have a starring role. We’ll be discussing the challenges we face with an often disliked part of our bodies and hopefully turning those conversations towards ones of appreciation.
But what if I don't like my tummy?!
Welcome back to a new post where we’re all about loving on tummies. Each week when we post these photos and work to normalize and celebrate bodies exactly as they are (meaning no filters and no photoshop) our goal is to show you that you’re worthy of love and acceptance and inclusion. You deserve to be seen AND heard. Always.
Today we thought we’d talk about love. About falling in love. With yourself!
This may seem like a silly notion, but at Jezebel we know that falling in love with yourself is often a catalyst for also falling in love with your body…including all of its curves, scars, muscles, and cellulite!
Loving our bodies is a journey
While we know nothing happens overnight, and sometimes doing the work is hard, like, really, really hard – we’ve also seen how countless lives change when they’re led with love.
So, how do you fall in love? When you’re going about your day and all of a sudden realize you LOVE something, how does that happen? What does it feel like? Whether it’s a new outfit, an adorable animal or even your significant other, our feelings often develop over time. The same approach can be employed when we’re working to fall in love with ourselves. ♥
Jezebel has recommend some of the many ways we see womxn learn to love their entire beings, here in this very blog. These tips range from being gentle with yourself on hard days, to taking up the space you deserve, to finding and saying a favorite affirmation on a daily basis. We all utilize tips like these, but learning to fall in love with yourself can also be accomplished by doing the same things for yourself as you would do for someone else you love:
- Finding the perfect gift for someone, even when you’re not searching for one. Buying it for them just because you know it’ll make their day. Really love those new shoes? Is a Funko pop catching your attention? What about that really soft peanut butter cookie at the local bakery?
- Pursuing new hobbies, getting involved with your community, picking up a book recommended to you and reading it all the way through – taking this time to develop new interests is a fantastic way to get to really know someone, including yourself!
- Let go of the small things. Forgiving ourselves when things don’t go exactly as planned – or when we leave our socks on the floor right next to the laundry basket – is important. If your best friend tracked mud into your freshly mopped kitchen, most of us wouldn’t just stop being friends with that person right? We forgive and continue to enjoy their company. What’s to say we can’t do the same for ourselves?
Love is simultaneously messy and so very fulfilling. It can be gentle or chaotic, a slow burn or an instant spark. It’s different for everyone—but when it hits, you know.
If you’re looking for a small getaway in a space filled with generosity, laughter and genuine love, come see us at Jezebel. We’d love to help you fall in love with yourself ♥
