BodyTalks: Tushy Thursday!

BodyTalks: Tushy Thursday!

today is tush-day!

At Jezebel, we celebrate you. This encompasses every facet of who you are – who WE all are. We show you ways to see yourself through the lens of unconditional love, and we understand that some days it’s easy to appreciate ourselves, and other times it can be more of a challenge.

This is where we want to flip the script and really talk about what our bodies can do for us. Honest discussions can lead to acceptance, and acceptance can open our eyes to the possibilities of love.

Thursdays at Jezebel are all about the booty! Each week we’ll be showcasing some of our favorite images where they have a starring role. We’ll be discussing the challenges we face with an often disliked part of our bodies and hopefully turning those conversations towards ones of appreciation.

We're bringing booty back

Welcome friends, back to our little corner of positivity on the internet ♥

Last week we started a mini-series on how boudoir sessions can change your life. In this second installment, we’re exploring part of boudoir prep that we don’t see much: the mental and emotional side of an upcoming session!

In-between choosing which session fits us best, to deciding on a date, to choosing which rotating set we just can’t live without – exploring how we feel about a session is often the last thing on our mind.

Then, the night before our appointment as we’re sitting cross-legged in the bottom of our closet deciding between the pink floral panties and the luxurious black satin (hint: bring both!) it hits us. This is really happening.

Loving our bodies is a journey

Cue the sudden flood of emotions:

Excitement. Nerves. Butterflies in our tummy. Hope. Guilt. Unease. Optimism.

Clothes and shoes sit littered around us and we suddenly don’t know how to feel. This is where Jezebel steps in to let you know all of these feelings are completely normal, offer some words of encouragement and fan that tiny spark living in you into a roaring flame🔥

1. Set Your Intentions

Knowing why you’re doing the session—whether it’s to celebrate yourself, mark a milestone, boost confidence, or create a gift—will give the experience a purpose.

Journaling about your motivations, visualizing the outcome, or writing a physical list of all the things you hope to gain from a session can help ground the feelings that might be hard to sort through as your session approaches.

2. Practice Positive Self-Talk

Negative self-perception can sabotage your confidence, and when confidence is something we’re trying to nourish, these unwelcome thoughts make that difficult. Taking a moment to replace each negative comment from our inner critics with ones of affirmation can help to set a positive tone.

This might seem easier said than done. While we encourage everyone to be gentle with themselves, saying affirmations out loud can be one way to start small.

Here are some of our favorites to get you started

“I am beautiful”
“I deserve to feel confident”
“I am worthy of being seen”

3. Embrace Vulnerability as Courage

Boudoir photography can stir up feelings of exposure or self-consciousness. Recognizing this vulnerability and associating it as a strength reframes those emotions into something empowering.

Remind yourself that showing up authentically takes bravery—and that bravery is beautiful. You’re doing something a lot of people are too afraid to try!

4. Acknowledge and Allow Your Emotions

As we hinted at earlier, it’s completely normal to feel excited, nervous, insecure, or even emotional before a session. Avoiding or suppressing those feelings allows them to win, which we don’t want!
Even when it’s hard, let yourself feel what you feel without judgment. Talk it out with a trusted friend or journal your emotions beforehand—doing so can help release some of that pressure.

5. Choose Self-Compassion Over Perfection

Holding yourself to unrealistic standards can rob the experience of joy. Instead of worrying about what others might think – remember, boudoir at Jezebel  is about embracing and celebrating yourself.

Have you already been in for a session? What tips would you share with someone who’s about to experience their first day with Jezebel?
