Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on womxn of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.
Our client feature Friday this week introduces us to a loyal and driven Belle who loves P!nk, cosplaying and the greenery of the Pacific Northwest! After finding us at Emerald City Comic Con, she decided to combine her love of cosplay with a boudoir session! Come sit with us while we chat with this Texas native to hear all about how she found a new sense of pride in being her authentic self after spending the day with Jezebel ♥
Where are you from? Where do you live now? What’s your favorite thing about where you live?
Born in Houston, Texas. Moved to Utah for college at 18, and met my husband there. We stayed in Utah for 17 years before moving to Marysville, Washington. I love everything about Washington. The breathtaking beauty is what really cements it though. Green! So much green!
What are some of your favorite songs/artists? Do you have a theme song–if so, what is it and why does that song(s) resonate with you?
I listen to almost everything so I like AC/DC, Whitesnake, Heart, Tesla, Bon Jovi, Reba McEntire, Smashmouth, Avril Lavigne, Daddy Yankee, Eminem, showtunes, classical… Probably Pink is my absolute favorite and I really like her “Respect” and “Fuckin’ Perfect” songs. They’re about believing in yourself and being unapologetically you.
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Survivor. Loyal. Driven.
Is this your first Jezebel session? If not, how many have you had and in either instance, what was your favorite part?
This was my first session, yes! My favorite part was the camaraderie between all three of us. I felt like I was just hanging out with friends, and one had a camera. I was so relaxed and happy. ♥
What made you want to have a boudoir session and what made you choose Jezebel as your studio?
I have done a boudoir shoot once before, but Jezebel had a booth at Emerald City Comic Con advertising their fan package and that was just so interesting – I couldn’t pass it up! A chance to be nerdy AND sexy?! Yes please!
What were your expectations going into the session and was the experience different or as you expected and how?
Having done one other “normal” boudoir shoot, I had some idea what to expect. I did not expect to have as much fun as I did. I love how personal the photos and whole experience are because I got to put my personal geeky touch on it.
Tell me about your session–your favorite set? outfit? prop? moment? favorite studio piece you used/wore? What stood out the most?
So, the Supernatural set is a personal favorite, hands down. But when I think about my session, my red/black fox ears and tail with the red corset really sticks out in my mind. I just die -EVERYTIME- I see my rockin’ bod with that tail!
How did you feel about the guidance you received during the session?
Fantastic guidance. I love that it started with “Do what feels natural. And if that’s laughing, then let it out! Real joy will show on the camera.” And it did!
Tell us about your hair styling/makeup application? How was your time in the chair? What did you really love?
I have a buzz cut, so hair wasn’t an issue. But my makeup was pretty awesome. I love that it was kept natural-ish since I don’t normally wear makeup and I didn’t want to look “weird”. It was a fantastic job with lots of asking for my input on what I liked and didn’t like.
How do you feel JVZ managed your privacy and confidentiality, both of your images and of you during your time with us?
Superb. No questions or complaints here. Privacy and confidentiality were handled spot-on.
How were you feeling leaving the studio and leading up to your photo reveal appointment?
I was so anxious! I wanted to see my photos RIGHT AWAY! I wanted the proof of my elation and happiness and the smile that just wouldn’t stop.
How was your reveal appointment? What did you like the most about it? What did you take home with you?
It was such a great reveal. The teaser online is so fun, and the pictures were incredible. I was so excited to place my order and download my photos.
Have you had any lasting impact/perspective shifts since your appointment? If so, please share as much as you’re comfortable with.
One of my three outfits was a cheerleader uniform from an anime. With some nude-colored underclothes, I wore it to SakuraCon as a cosplay (its original design) with pride – something I even told Jezebel staff I couldn’t do because the outfit was too revealing even for a costume. But I rocked that cheerleader uniform and pompoms all day!
Other than “just do it”, what advice would you offer a friend interested in a session to book with Jezebel? What tips might you give? What were the best tips you received either from us or from others?
Go big. Scared? Do it anyways. Can’t choose? Bring both outfits and ask for help making a decision. Think it’s too [insert word here: geeky, revealing, “not you”, whatever!]? Do it anyways! This was so awesome, and it’s really changed how I look at my cosplays and costumes.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Fantastic experience from fantastic people!
This client’s story really shows how fun and empowering a boudoir photo shoot can be in embracing our true selves. Her session with JVZ wasn’t just another “normal” boudoir experience; it was an uplifting, genuine space where she got to connect with her geeky side and walked away with a newfound confidence to rock her cosplays with pride!
