21 Aug BodyTalks: Tushy Thursday | The Evolution of Boudoir
Thursday is Tush-Day!
At Jezebel, we celebrate you. This encompasses every facet of who you are – who WE all are. We show you ways to see yourself through the lens of unconditional love, and we understand that some days it’s easy to appreciate ourselves, and other times it can be more of a challenge.
This is where we want to flip the script and really talk about what our bodies can do for us. Honest discussions can lead to acceptance, and acceptance can open our eyes to the possibilities of love.
Thursdays at Jezebel are all about the booty! Each week we’ll be showcasing some of our favorite images where they have a starring role., while also discussing the challenges we face with an often disliked part of our bodies. Our hope with these focused posts is to turn these challenges into an appreciation for who we are, exactly as we are, right now. Because we’re all worth it ♥
We're Bringing Booty Back!
Hello Lovelies!
When you hear the word boudoir, what comes to mind?
Maybe it’s lacy lingerie, sultry expressions, and soft, romantic lighting. Maybe you’ve seen photos that feel beautiful—but not quite like you. And maybe, somewhere in the back of your mind, you’ve thought: “That’s just not for me.”
But here’s the truth: boudoir doesn’t have to look a certain way or be done for anyone but yourself. At Jezebel, we believe boudoir is so much more than sexy photos. It’s a chance to reconnect with yourself, to see your body through our lens of unconditional love, and to celebrate who you are—right here, right now.
Whether you’re drawn to boudoir to feel empowered, to mark a personal milestone, or just because you’re curious, we’re here to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are.
In this two-part series, we’re inviting you to take a fresh look at the evolution of boudoir—starting with where it all began, and how it’s evolved into something deeply personal, liberating, and uniquely yours.
The Evolution of Boudoir:
How an iconic style of photography has evolved over the years
The term boudoir comes from the French word “bouder”, meaning “to sulk” or “pout.” Historically, a boudoir was a woman’s private sitting room or dressing room—a space that belonged solely to her, often tucked away from the rest of the world. It was a place of rest, beauty, sensuality, and self-expression.
Boudoir photography has its roots in that same spirit of intimacy and elegance. Traditionally, these sessions featured soft lighting, feminine styling, and beautiful lingerie—images often captured as a romantic gift for a partner. And while there’s nothing wrong with that (we love a good anniversary surprise!), the traditional approach sometimes overlooks the most important element in the room: you.
Loving our bodies is a journey
Over the years, boudoir photography has transformed from something done for someone else into a way to celebrate yourself. Today, it’s a powerful form of self-expression, self-love, and the best kind of affirmation one can experience.
Modern boudoir is no longer defined by what you wear—or don’t wear—but by how you feel. It’s about showing up as you are and embracing every curve, scar, and story your body holds. It’s about reconnecting with your confidence, your beauty, your inner fire. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone, healing after a breakup, or simply ready to see yourself in a new light, a boudoir session is a way to say:
“I’m enough. Just as I am. And I’m worth celebrating.”
At our studio, we see boudoir as a radical act of self-love. We’ve watched countless women walk into our space nervous, unsure, or stuck in self-doubt—and leave standing taller, glowing with confidence, and feeling more in tune with themselves than ever before.
You don’t need a special occasion.
You are the occasion.
So… what does boudoir mean to you?
Maybe it’s about stepping into your sensuality. Maybe it’s about reclaiming your body after a big life change. Or maybe it’s just about proving to yourself that you’re bold enough to do something a little outside your comfort zone.
Whatever it is, we’re here for it—and for you. Our goal is to create a genuine and uplifting space where you are completely free to be yourself.
Stay tuned for Part 2 of this series next week, where we’ll explore how props, passions, and personal touches can transform a boudoir session into something truly unforgettable.
