26 Sep Client Feature Friday | Raise Your Voice
Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on women of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.
Our client feature Friday this week introduces us to an ambitious and silly Belle who has a fondness for Black-Eyed Peas and the acapella sounds of Pentatonix. After winning this session from a contest Jezebel held, she decided it was time to do something she’d always wanted to do – experience a boudoir session for herself! ♥
Where are you from? Where do you live now? What’s your favorite thing about where you live?
From Phoenix, AZ. I now live in Renton, WA. My favorite thing about where I live is the Cedar River Trail that goes literally right in front of my house, and leads to super cool views and hidden gems.
What are some of your favorite songs/artists? Do you have a theme song–if so, what is it and why does that song(s) resonate with you?
All time favorite artist group would be Black Eyed Peas, but I also have a lot of special love for Pentatonix (an acapella group). If I had to pick an anthem it would be “Where is the Love” by BEP, since that’s the song that had me fall in love with the band. It resonates even harder now than it did then, because it’s asking why we as a society are constantly pitting ourselves against each other, instead of working together to uplift each other.
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Strong-Willed, Ambitious, Silly
Is this your first Jezebel session? If not, how many have you had and in either instance, what was your favorite part?
It was my first! My favorite part was how comfortable I felt. Sara and Kaitlyn walked me through everything so smoothly and the vibe was just fantastic. ♥
What made you want to have a boudoir session and what made you choose Jezebel as your studio?
I’ve wanted one for a long time, but never had the confidence to go through with it until a very close friend told me of a contest Jezebel was running, and on a whim I decided to do it as a wedding gift for my husband. I clicked with Kaitlyn right away, so I knew I wanted to go through with it after the first call with her.
What were your expectations going into the session and was the experience different or as you expected and how?
I honestly didn’t have any expectations, because I wasn’t really sure what I wanted, and was extremely nervous. It was definitely very different than I expected, because I never expected to be as comfortable and confident in what I was doing as I was by the time we even started shooting. ♥
Tell me about your session–your favorite set? outfit? prop? moment? favorite studio piece you used/wore? What stood out the most?
I brought in 3 outfits – a corset and fishnet outfit, a crop top long sleeve and panties, and my favorite corset dress and steampunk cap. I really expected to most strongly want the shots of me in the corset dress, but that amped up when they found me a cane with a sword in it to accessorize. What surprised me though is that my favorite moment was in my least interesting outfit – the long sleeve and panties. They incorporated all my gaming accoutrements into that set of shots, and they got me laughing so many times in that part of the shoot that most of my memories are of those shots, which really surprised me. And it stands out in the images, because I was clearly the most giddy in those shots. But man – the POWER that these guys captured in the corset dress shots? Unmatched. I’m still madly in love with almost every single shot in that outfit.
How did you feel about the guidance you received during the session?
Tell us about your hair styling/makeup application? How was your time in the chair? What did you really love?
How do you feel JVZ managed your privacy and confidentiality, both of your images and of you during your time with us?
Oh 100% confidence that no one I didn’t want to know about anything knew about anything. I of course gushed to all my friends about the experience, but they only posted with permission, and I was completely aware of what rights I was giving them!
How were you feeling leaving the studio and leading up to your photo reveal appointment?
So great. I was in such a great mood after the shoot, that I had to be careful not to glow to hard once I saw my husband again since it was a surprise for him!
How was your reveal appointment? What did you like the most about it? What did you take home with you?
It was awesome! The slide show was put together so well, and Sara and Kaitlyn made me feel so good about all of the images, and it was just…a wonderful experience.
Have you had any lasting impact/perspective shifts since your appointment? If so, please share as much as you’re comfortable with.
I can definitely say, I’ve gained confidence in my body. I know it wasn’t all from this one session with a great set of people, but I know that it certainly made a difference in my journey, and has had a lasting impact on my own mentality surrounding my body image.
Other than “just do it”, what advice would you offer a friend interested in a session to book with Jezebel? What tips might you give? What were the best tips you received either from us or from others?
Honestly? Talk to your friends. Ask if anyone HAS done it before, and how they felt about it, who they went through. The person who recommended Jezebel isn’t the only friend of mine who’d been through their doors, so I got opinions. Best tips I got were to just…bring stuff you like, bring more than you expect to use, and be open to their advice. All were great tips. I brought a GIANT suitcase of stuff, and used very little of it, but because of all the options I brought, I feel like each outfit was really me, and something I would enjoy being photographed in. They added bits and pieces, but they mostly used stuff I brought.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Thank you guys just so much for everything you did throughout the process. I will be back again someday!
This client’s story really shows how giddy a boudoir photoshoot can make us when we step into the power we have inside. Her session with JVZ wasn’t just about taking beautiful photos for her husband; it was an uplifting, genuine space where she got to discover another piece to the journey she’s taking with loving her body.
