Our bodies are real. They’re lived in, loved on, stretched, scarred, soft, and strong. But in a world where filtered perfection is the norm, it’s easy to believe that we’re supposed to hide the parts of us that don’t match a curated ideal. So let’s take a moment this week to talk about three things often edited out of the conversation—bellies, cellulite, and skin texture. They are not flaws. They are not signs of failure. They are deeply human, and they deserve to be seen, celebrated, and captured with pride.
Every belly has a story—childbirth, laughter, delicious meals, deep breaths. All of these memories and lived moments are incredible and worth celebrating. At Jezebel, we do just that. We celebrate you. Whether you have a flat stomach, soft folds, glorious curves or boast any shape in-between. Slowly, yet confidently, women are taking back their power all over the world. Impossible sizes and flawlessly airbrushed skin tones are not, and never have been the default of beauty. The proof is written in history!
🏛️ In ancient Greek sculpture, goddesses like Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, were often depicted with soft bellies, gentle curves, and visible rolls.
🧧 During the Tang Dynasty, one of the most culturally prosperous periods in Chinese history, full-bodied female figures were the standard of beauty. In art and sculpture, women were depicted with round faces, soft stomachs, and curvaceous forms. This body type represented wealth, health, and fertility—a sign that a woman lived in abundance.
🎨 The Flemish painter Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640) famously painted women with voluptuous curves, soft thighs, visible stomachs, and textured skin. At the time, this aesthetic wasn’t just personal preference—it reflected a broader cultural ideal that equated roundness with fertility, wealth, and desirability. These weren’t women to be hidden or shamed; they were exalted in grand, luxurious artworks.
So many of us have been told to shrink, smooth, or sculpt our bodies to match today’s trends—but history shows us that beauty has always come in many forms. From Aphrodite’s soft belly to the Tang Dynasty’s curvaceous icons, our ancestors celebrated the very same features we’re often taught to hide.
90%+ of women have cellulite. It’s not a flaw—it’s biology.
Women everywhere have been conditioned to think that the presence of cellulite anywhere on our bodies is somehow a failure on our part to be fit.
In reality, cellulite isn’t a sign of unfitness at all, but rather a pattern of normal fat distribution and skin texture. Our bodies evolve in ways that allow us to dance, crawl, jump and thrive. Instead of hiding your real skin with blurring filters and erasers, Jezebel is here celebrating it instead.
We’re sometimes asked if we can “fix” a client’s cellulite, and our answer is always-
While this might seem harsh, we firmly believe that no part of you needs to be fixed. Because you’re captivating, inspiring and beautiful even with visible cellulite ♥
Skin has pores. It has freckles, stretch marks, acne, scars, & peach fuzz.
Smooth, glassy skin seen in the media and on our favorite Instagram influencers profiles are often the result of makeup, lighting and heavy editing. Even when it isn’t, smooth skin, like a toned tummy, is not a be-all-end-all definition of beauty.
Jezebel has always been about placing value in representing you in your truest form. Texture adds depth, history and individuality to your images. Your laugh lines are a reminder of amazing weekends spent with friends and family, those scars covering your belly? Lasting proof that your body has adapted and grown to carry you through your biggest life changes. And freckles? Gosh, we love freckles – they’re your very own set of constellations scattered across a landscape that houses a Goddess.
If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and wished you could trade your belly, smooth your thighs, or filter your skin—you’re not alone. But what if, instead of hiding, we let those parts be seen? What if we welcomed our softness, our lines, our texture as part of the art that is our body?
Your body doesn’t need to change to be worthy of the spotlight. It doesn’t need to shrink or smooth or be “prepped” to be photographed. It is worthy right now.
When you walk into our studio, bring your whole self—soft belly, dimples, scars, stories. We’ll hold space for it all, and we’ll create images that remind you how powerful it is to simply be real.
You don’t have to be flawless to be fierce. You already are. 💋
Are you ready to show the world that you’re here, ready to take up space, and ready to celebrate your power?
