21 Nov Client Feature Friday | A Lady Like That
Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on women of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.
Our featured Belle this week is a fiery Aries who totally owned her first session. With a love for all music, reading, and a fierce committment to her goals, she finally allowed herself to take a moment just for her. Sit down with us as we chat in depth with this Wisconsin native ♥
Where are you from? Where do you live now? What’s your favorite thing about where you live?
I am from Wisconsin. I have lived in Washington state on and off since I was 10. I live in Stanwood WA, and I love being surrounded by mountains, and the ocean. Snohomish county reminds me a lot of Wisconsin, small town vibes and farmers nestled in northwest beauty.
What are some of your favorite songs/artists? Do you have a theme song–if so, what is it and why does that song(s) resonate with you?
That’s a hard one lol, because I like everything from hip hop to country. At the moment I’m loving everything about Morgan Allen, Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Gabby Barrett etc..right now I’m loving “Lady Like” by Ingrid Andress. It’s really resonating with me right now post photo shoot lol
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Fierce. Devoted. Genuine.
Is this your first Jezebel session? If not, how many have you had and in either instance, what was your favorite part?
Yes, this is my first session. Everything was my favorite. Honestly. It’s hard to choose a favorite when the whole experience was above and beyond what you expected/ imagined. I loved how I felt being photographed, you are really in this vulnerable moment when everything is about you and centered on you, but, I am an Aries so ya know we like to be the center of attention lol. ♥
What made you want to have a boudoir session and what made you choose Jezebel as your studio?
I had thought about it for several years, but being a plus size woman comes with a lot of anxiety in doing this, being judged or feeling uncomfortable in your body. I have lost 108 pounds in the last 8 months, and have realized no matter what size we are as women we have things we love and don’t love about our bodies. Even though I’m still on my journey, now was the time to do this, still feeling like I’m in my prime. I didn’t want to wait or put it off because “of this part of my body or that bit I don’t like”…I’ve worked hard this year, it’s been tough, I wanted to celebrate who I am now, love me, all of me.
I did a lot of research in trying to choose a place to go, and had a few phone consultations, but just the reviews from women, their experiences with you ladies, the vibes I was getting, the body positivity, was telling my heart this was going to be the right choice for me, and I have 0 regrets, I absolutely 1000% made the right choice!
What were your expectations going into the session and was the experience different or as you expected and how?
I wasn’t sure what to expect, I was hoping that I would feel beautiful and walk away from the experience happy I did it and in love with my photos. It was so much more than that though, the whole experience was above and beyond what I imagined. I felt so comfortable and so welcomed, they truly care about wanting this to be everything YOU imagined it would be. They want to make your vision of what you want come to life in the most beautiful, dramatic, amazing ways. And these ladies do not disappoint.
I’m having a total knee replacement in 3 weeks, and I was really worried about positioning etc, when it came to my knee. Sara was so amazing, always mindful of my knee, double checking I was comfortable and not in pain, she really eased my anxiety about it.
Tell me about your session–your favorite set? outfit? prop? moment? favorite studio piece you used/wore? What stood out the most?
My session was amazing. I brought 3 outfits, and a few mix and match pieces. I had a general idea of what I wanted to wear but not what should go with what.
Sara asked me if I was open to the client closet and suggestions and I absolutely was. She changed out a panty color for me to go with my pearl bralette, thigh highs for that outfit, the blue ruffle robe (gorgeous! A MUST!) and jewelry. Her eye, her vision, was spot on, I LOVED everything she did for my outfits.
I love to read, I brought a book that was my first romance book I read as a teenager, that prop was used in the bedroom set with a blue lace body suit, the robe, sparkle tights and heels. I felt soft, relaxed, beautiful. Then the pearl bralette and angel wings. OH MY GOD, those WINGS! Definitely my favorite set. The mood, the mirror, the floral wall and candlelight, my heart was screaming GODDESS, DIVA, YESSSS GIRL, YESSS…LOL. I really came alive and let that inner Aries be front and center. She was a bad ass, lovely, sultry, sassy…
I was finally ready for the tiger room, where I wore my husbands Cardinals jersey (I’m a Packers fan, so this was really hard for me 😂) but I made it through, I knew he would love those booty shots in his jersey.
My last outfit was a black lace body suit with a high-low tulle skirt. Beautiful, feminine, soft, and sexy. It was so amazing and fun. The wings were definitely my favorite prop if you hadn’t guessed…
How did you feel about the guidance you received during the session?
Sara was amazing in suggesting poses, looks, turn of the head and eyes etc, she encourages you to also do what feels good in the moment, to have fun, laugh, and if there’s something you want to do go for it. She’s all in for you!
Tell us about your hair styling/makeup application? How was your time in the chair? What did you really love?
Angelica was amazing. We are both hairstylists so we had that instant connection, she asked all the right questions, wanted me to have the hair and makeup I envisioned and she nailed it. We had such an easy flowing conversation going between all of us, this is where my nerves really settled and I was already feeling at ease and comfortable with them. I never do a nude lip, I’m kinda red and bold and colorful, but I wanted to start out soft and build into that bold lip, and she delivered the most beautiful nude lip and Smokey eye I wanted. She’s truly talented in her craft, and sweet as can be.
They supplied a super cozy robe and slippers for me, and there was a digital screen welcoming me by name there, very thoughtful touches ❤️💕
How do you feel JVZ managed your privacy and confidentiality, both of your images and of you during your time with us?
These ladies take your privacy seriously. You lead the way on your comfort zone and they follow your lead. It is only your photographer and makeup artist there.
They have the most beautiful changing room, and you have total privacy getting into all of your outfits. They share nothing/do nothing without your full consent first, I felt safe and confident in this from the get go.
How were you feeling leaving the studio and leading up to your photo reveal appointment?
I wanted to see everything immediately, I just knew by my session alone that I was going to be in love with these images. I couldn’t wait for my reveal.
I left my session feeling like a total bad ass, I had a major boost in my confidence to say the least, I was ready to do it again lol.
How was your reveal appointment? What did you like the most about it? What did you take home with you?
Amazing. Sara had a slide show ready and we watched that first, I was in awe, a lot of emotions hit you, like that’s me? Wow, I look soft, or vulnerable in a beautiful way, sexy, sultry, all these things coming at you but in such a wonderful way, your mind is already like “I need this, I need that.”
I love how from the beginning they let you look at their catalogue, to get an idea of what you might like or what would work for you before your reveal appointment. They definitely want you to get the images you love, and really work with you to create that.
One thing I really wanted was a leather album for my husband for Christmas, and I’m really excited to see his reaction when he gets it, it’s fun to build that book, to choose those images.
Have you had any lasting impact/perspective shifts since your appointment? If so, please share as much as you’re comfortable with.
Definitely. I came away loving more of myself, who I am now, in my body. This is me, my imperfections, my scars. They tell my story, they are a part of me and I need to celebrate that, embrace it, own it. I know I’m a bad ass diva, and these photos show that, show me.
Other than “just do it”, what advice would you offer a friend interested in a session to book with Jezebel? What tips might you give? What were the best tips you received either from us or from others?
Well, I would definitely say do it. Stop thinking about if the time is right, if your body is right, all the things we put into our minds that hold us back, and hold us down.
Stop second guessing yourself, you are beautiful, this is YOUR time to shine, to be bold and fearless and to give yourself this gift that you DESERVE.
Laugh, be silly, be dramatic, trust me – those photos of the real you coming out to play are fire. Do an add-on for sure, I can’t wait to do future ones. Put those WINGS on lol, you will have the time of your life.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Just that these ladies are awesome. Sara has such a passion for this, for celebrating all women. She is creative and fun, and her energy is amazing.
She had me laughing and feeling myself the whole time, this was what she was destined to do. And a shout out to Kaitlyn, who’s behind the scenes, like OZ lol, she’s fantastic.
My first conversations and consultations were with her, she’s easy to talk to, and has a fun bubbly vibe. If you have any questions about anything she’s there for you, she will walk you through everything you need, and she always made me feel like I could reach out to her anytime.
This client’s story really shows how affirming a boudoir photoshoot can be in celebrating who we are – in this moment. Her session with JVZ wasn’t just about taking beautiful photos; it was an uplifting, genuine space where she got to feel pampered and walked away with a deeper love for herself.
