Getting Nerdy: Spotlight on Project Fan Girl Sessions

Is there a TV show, movie or character that you love hard? Do you countdown to comic cons or proudly wear tees from your favorite fandoms? If so, then you may be the perfect fit for Jezebel VonZephyr’s most fun and nerdy photo session: Project Fan Girl! 

Project Fan Girl is the brainchild of JVZ’s resident nerds, Tiffany and Sara. They were attending a Supernatural Con when they conceived the idea of a boudoir session that would celebrate a woman’s love of a fandom. They knew that they loved their fandoms hard and wagered that many others did as well. And so: Project Fan Girl was born! We’re proud to offer this unique session to women who deeply love their fandoms and are looking for a unique way to show it off. 

Project Fan Girl sessions are an opportunity to celebrate what you love about your fandoms. Do you light up when you read about Harry Potter and Hermione casting spells? Do you get goosebumps when you watch Wonder Woman soar? Do you feel like crying when you connect with a character on-screen because you feel like they represent you? Those are the feelings we aim to capture in a PFG shoot. We want to find and celebrate the essence of why you love the fandom or fandoms you do. 

The Project Fan Girl session is all about you and how you embody the things you love about your fandoms. We work with you to combine your unique beauty and personality with the characteristics you love about your favorite character, show, movie, comic, book, or fandom.When planning your session we ask: how does this thing help you to shine? Why do you connect with this person or show? And how can we create a unique photo shoot that allows you to shine and celebrate those pieces of the fandoms you love–and show that they are within you? Our hope is that through the Project Fan Girl session you will learn to embody the things you love about your fandom(s) and begin to see yourself as the heroine that you are.

• Do you have at least one fandom that you really love? 
• Do you own a lot of stuff from your fandoms? We’re talking t-shirts, toys, books, magazines, memorabilia, art, accessories, or anything else that has your favorite character or show emblazoned on it. (We’re not asking this from experience or anything.) 
• Do you like to express yourself in creative ways?
• Are you willing to go outside of your comfort zone to express yourself for your fandom(s)? 
• Have you invested money in any of your fandoms? Are you willing to do so?

Because we know that there are many kinds of fans, we offer several packages for clients. The one that we enjoy doing the most is the Supreme Project Fan Girl session. This full-day session is for the woman who loves and loves hard. With the Supreme PFG, you’ll get to celebrate up to four of your fandoms over the course of seven hours. You can nerd out until your heart’s content during this session! We’ll help you channel your inner Winchester, Catwoman, Cinderella, Wonder Woman, Storm Trooper and/or any other character or fandom you’d like all day long! Before your big day you’ll have a 90-minute consultation with the team to help you prepare and get into fandom mode. The Supreme Project Fan Girl session gives you unlimited wardrobe options and up to ten outfits styled by the team. And don’t forget to bring your own fandom goodies! This is your chance to show off all your stuff, so pack up your Pops, books, clothes, accessories and anything else that you have that shows your love. Clients love the Supreme PFG package because it’s a full day (up to seven hours) in the Jezebel studio, which means that you’ll get so many stunning images you may not know what to do with them all! (It’s a really good problem to have. Trust us.) The Supreme Project Fan Girl package comes with nine watermarked digital pairs of images and $500 in print credit that you can use towards things like a photo album, canvas, calendar or more digitals. You’ll also get a two-hour reveal where you’ll get to see all of your amazing fandom photos in a custom slideshow. If this sounds like the package for you, then you should book your session and start planning which fandoms you’ll rock during your day in the studio! Note: a $150 deposit is required to book this session and the remainder must be paid off by the day of your shoot. 

We know that not everyone has four fandoms that they love hard. So if you only have one or two there’s no need to fret! We have packages for you! If you have a couple of fandoms that you enjoy then the Classic Fan Girl session is for you. With this package you’ll get to explore two of your fandoms. Perhaps you want to embody Dwight Schrute and Princess Leia. Maybe you love Lady Gaga and gaming. Or perhaps you’re a musical nerd who rocks out to Hamilton and Phantom. Whatever you love, the Classic PFG session will allow you to explore two of your fandoms. You’ll have a consultation with the Jezebel team up to two weeks before your shoot so you can make sure you come into the studio prepared and ready to play. On the day of your session you’ll get hair and makeup done then up to three hours in front of our cameras. The Classic comes with unlimited access to the Jezebel client wardrobe as well as unlimited outfits. During this session we find that women usually get through around five looks. You’ll also get four watermarked pairs of digital images and an hour-long reveal to revel in all of your glorious fangirl photos! Women love the Classic Fan Girl option because it gives just enough time to explore a couple of fandoms they love. It’s an accessible way to show the shows and characters you love a little love!

If your heart is only true to one book, movie, or character then you should explore our Super Mini session! Maybe you yearn to channel your inner Scarlett O’Hara or you want to pay homage to Ursula the Sea Witch. Whatever fandom you adore would be perfect for the Super Mini! This quick shoot gives you the opportunity to show your love to one fandom with 90 minutes in the studio. Like the other PFG sessions, you’ll have a style consultation a couple of weeks before your shoot. The Super Mini includes makeup styling with the option to add on hair styling (for an additional $50). The session includes up to three stylized outfits to help you embody your fandom and help you look your best in the studio. You’ll also receive two watermarked digital image pairs and an hour-long reveal where you get to check out how amazingly you embodied the fandom you love. 

One question we get a lot about our Project Fan Girl packages is about cosplay: can I cosplay at my PFG session? While we love and respect cosplayers and the art of cosplay, our Project Fan Girl session is not meant to be a cosplay photoshoot. We created these sessions to help women explore who they are. We want to help you connect to yourself and the fandoms you love. Project Fan Girl shoots allow you to celebrate the fandom(s) you love–the idea is to have you embody your fandoms, not be dressed in full costume. We want the essence of the things you love to shine through in your photos, not be covered up by the intricate details of your cosplay. But if you wanted to bring pieces of your cosplay with you, we are thrilled to use those things as props or parts of the set. We have seen some amazing cosplay pieces in our studio and will happily display those as a part of your session!
