08 Apr Client Feature Friday: A Gamer Rolls Her Dice and Takes a Chance!
Jezebel VonZephyr works with all kinds of women, from gamers hailing from the suburbs of Seattle to business owners from all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond. We love connecting with each client, hearing her stories and capturing her unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so she can share a part of her story.
Today’s Belle is someone who found out about JVZ at Emerald City Comic Con! We absolutely love connecting with women at ECCC because they are so passionate, creative, and fun! She came into the studio for a Project Fan Girl session and we were thrilled to help her subtly feature her fandoms throughout her session! She brought in so much fun stuff and slayed her session. Read on to hear how her first boudoir session ever went!
Age: 30
Where are you from? I currently live in Woodinville, and I grew up in an LA suburb.
What is your theme song? This really varies a bit on my mood, but at the moment it is probably 加油 by JJ Lin, which is a song about trying to get through adversity together.
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself? Resilient. Effervescent. Caring.
Is this your first Jezebel shoot? If not, how many have you had? Yes! This is my first.
Why did you decide to book a session with JVZ? I started talking to the JVZ staff at ECCC and thought that the mission was great. I also have been wanting to experience a boudoir photo shoot for awhile, and took this chance to finally stop saying “one day…” and give it a shot.
How did you feel before your shoot? I was quite nervous, actually, because I didn’t quite know what to expect as I hadn’t really done any sort of photoshoots like this before. I was also excited, particularly after the consultation when we talked about how we wanted to involve my favorite fandoms.
How was your session? What was your favorite part? My session was so fun. Both the photographer, Sara, and the stylist, Tiffany, made me feel like absolute gold. My favorite part was probably being able to also infuse my poses with dance–there was one photo we took that was a moving photo with a turn and an epic cape swirl, and the reaction + the experience was exhilarating.
What was your favorite look from your session? Why? It was a tie between the blue chainmail and the headphones + loose white shirt outfit. The blue chainmail made me feel powerful, and I hadn’t gotten to wear anything like that in my life before. I would say the “gamer” outfit best let me express my interests and seemed the most natural.
How are you feeling since your session? I’ve been feeling pretty great and way more confident to wear crazy outfits and to get “dolled up”.
It is also great to see the photos that I took during the photoshoot on days when I’m feeling a bit down. It really serves to remind me that there can be bad days, but there are still great days where I can look and feel like I did during the photo shoot.
Did you bring anything special with you to the studio? Why? I brought my DnD Dice/figurine, as well as my Nintendo Switch + games, my capes that I bought for a LARP event, and items from my Persona 5 special edition set. These items all very much encompassed my interests and fandoms, and I wanted them subtly featured in my photoshoot to show off who I am a little bit as a nerd.
How was your reveal? The reveal was great–I loved watching the video of the photos, even if I felt a little awkward staring at myself for so long. It was also fantastic to have the option to turn down photos that I didn’t like–even though I didn’t see any that I didn’t like! 🙂
I also didn’t feel any judgment for not purchasing any physical photo forms (I stuck with the digital package), as everyone was very understanding that I wasn’t quite ready to see blown up photos of myself around my house. It was a very supportive moment.
Any advice for anyone thinking of booking a session with JVZ? My advice would be just to give it a try, even if you aren’t fully sure of what you want. I signed up for it with barely a vague idea of what I wanted, and the Jezebel team was HUGELY helpful in guiding me to discover what it is I wanted.
Do you consider yourself to be nerdy? Have you thought about doing a boudoir session but don’t know where to start? Let this Belle’s story be your inspiration!
