Client Feature Friday: Sweatshirts and Comfy Sessions

Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on womxn of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.

Today we feature a womxn who’s done a couple of sessions with us. She found her magic at her first session and wanted us to capture her true essence in her second round. We love that! Read on to hear her story.

Age: 48

Where are you from? I grew up in Utah, then moved to Washington in 2000. I’ve lived in lots of places, but most of the time has been in Snohomish County. I currently live in Lake Stevens where we bought a house that was large enough to have space for my parents to move in with us.

What is your theme song? I have a few that come up in different ways. But I think my most recent and current may be Ride by Lowell ft. Icona Pop.

What are three words you’d use to describe yourself? Caring. Adventurous. Silly

Is this your first Jezebel shoot? If not, how many have you had? I have had two sessions. This second session was a very different experience. Coming into a second session, I knew what to expect and had more of my own ideas for the content and feel.

It was more pure joy and fun!

Why did you decide to book a session with JVZ? My first session was in 2021. I booked it as part of a challenge for myself – I had wanted to do a boudoir session somewhere for YEARS.

JVZ showed that they knew more about womxn I identified with: not young, not skinny, not full of confidence.

I wanted to do something that was about finding all the confidence boosting things inside myself and wanted to take a chance for me.

And it was pure magic!

How did you feel before your shoot?  I was excited before both of my sessions – for different reasons. I am not inclined to be nervous, so I never felt that. But for the first session I was excited about doing something new. In the second session I was excited to do something that captured “me”.

How was your session? What was your favorite part? I love how there is so much at ease in these sessions. I loved the chat about all sorts of random things and the camaraderie as women. Connecting as complex beings with homes and families and careers – hobbies, joys, and expectations.

Building our circle and our community as women is ever increasing in importance.

What was your favorite look from your session? Why? I have two that are tied. In my latest session I had a sweatshirt with Rebel Rebel on the front….David Bowie was the most influential artist in my life and that sweatshirt is my favorite.

Second, I have a Seattle Kraken sweatshirt that I wore in the black room with backlighting…..and hockey is a huge part of our home and something that my husband and I share and love.

How are you feeling since your session?I am really excited to see the prints and purchases. I feel great and am so excited to see the prints I bought!

Did you bring anything special with you to the studio? Why? I brought several of my favorite sweatshirts with me. I live in sweatshirts and wanted this session to be about the silly comfort I have with them.

How was your reveal? The reveal was fun! It was fun to see the results and compare the finished product to what I remembered in the session.

Any advice for anyone thinking of booking a session with JVZ? Trust the process! When you haven’t done anything like this before, try not to have expectations and go in with a sense of adventure! There are poses that feel weird in the moment, and movements that are new, and the results WILL be stunning. 🙂

If you are unsure of whether or not to do it – do it.

If you think you want to wait until some part of you is different – don’t wait.

If you think it’s going to be too expensive – talk to the experts about your budget but do not let that get in your way.

If you are worried about how you will feel – trust it and go!

Anything else you’d like to share? I think everyone should take a prop or outfit piece of some sort. Having something that is unique to you changes the whole vibe! Even if you think it’s something silly like hoodies!  🙂

Do you want to get cozy in our studio? Book your session with us! We’re scheduling sessions for this winter, which is the perfect time for a comfy, cozy session with your favorite sweatshirts, cardigans, or blankets! What are you waiting for? Let’s get cozy, lovely!
