08 Aug Client Feature Friday: I Can Love Me Better
Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on womxn of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.
Our client feature Friday this week introduces us to an adventurous and engaging Belle who has a fondness for Miley Cyrus, P!nk, and the Snohomish Historical Society. As a return Belle, she took the things she learned from her first session and found this time around to be both freeing and effortless. Pull up a seat and read on as this amazing human tells us about how she walked away from her session with a newfound confidence, ready to take on the world ♥
Where are you from? Where do you live now? What’s your favorite thing about where you live?
I moved to Seattle from California 21 years ago (it’s hard to believe I’ve been here that long!) and now live in Snohomish. I love being in a town that is so vibrant and has such a unique feel to it. It’s also been great having friends in town that have pushed me to get more involved with things like the Historical Society, giving me a community.
What are some of your favorite songs/artists? Do you have a theme song–if so, what is it and why does that song(s) resonate with you?
My music lists change all the time, but currently it’s been a lot of Teddy Swims and P!nk. My current theme song is Flowers by Miley Cyrus. It’s really resonated with me as I have gone through a divorce and am learning a lot about how to really be on my own and taking care of the things I need to, but while also realizing I have an amazing group of women supporting me.
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Adventurous, Loyal, Engaging
Is this your first Jezebel session? If not, how many have you had and in either instance, what was your favorite part?
This is my second! Sara shared with me that she has shared about my first session with others and I’m pretty sure both of us were ready to cry a bit, but it was such a moving moment between us and my confidence has increased so much since then. ♥
What made you want to have a boudoir session and what made you choose Jezebel as your studio?
I’ve had a lot of changes in my personal life (divorce, moving, learning how to be single again) and wanted to give myself the gift of seeing myself in a positive light and the ability to acknowledge that I am the powerful and sexy person that is in my photos. Sara is brilliant and has a way to show everyone who walks through the door to Jezebel in such a positive and beautiful light.
What were your expectations going into the session and was the experience different or as you expected and how?
Having worked with the Jezebel team before, I knew what to expect, and felt like I could just be myself and not feel reserved this time while there. I loved that I was able to feel so comfortable and that we had some great moments of laughter (some of my favorite photos!) and the conversation that flowed during the session was just positive.♥
Tell me about your session–your favorite set? outfit? prop? moment? favorite studio piece you used/wore? What stood out the most?
Part of why I was in was to get updated headshots. The fact that Sara looked at me when I walked in and kept me in an “approachable” outfit was wonderful and I was able to just be myself. I loved the purple/pink set that was picked and just how sultry it was through those photos. The sequined jumpsuit photos are fun and amazing and I really do love the one capturing laughter that really shows joy and fun.
How did you feel about the guidance you received during the session?
Every time I see the Jezebel team, I walk out more confident. I took the things that I got from my first session and found that my biggest challenge from 4 years ago is not a challenge for me anymore. (Sara has her story about this and can tell it a million times better than I can)
Tell us about your hair styling/makeup application? How was your time in the chair? What did you really love?
I loved that things were kept natural and let my eyes pop. And if I could have my hair and makeup done like that daily, I totally would!
How do you feel JVZ managed your privacy and confidentiality, both of your images and of you during your time with us?
The Jezebel team has been great with this and I appreciate that you are so great with explaining everything and are always thorough in providing information.
How were you feeling leaving the studio and leading up to your photo reveal appointment?
Confident. Photos seemed effortless this time and that’s because I knew what to expect and was comfortable with Sara already.
How was your reveal appointment? What did you like the most about it? What did you take home with you?
I love that moment when I get to see myself in a different light. One that I don’t see daily, but in a way that I know is within me. Talking through the photos and getting to see what was captured was so powerful. It really did reinforce that I am the confident and sexy woman in the photos.
Have you had any lasting impact/perspective shifts since your appointment? If so, please share as much as you’re comfortable with.
I have really embraced that I am the person in the photos so much! The card that I drew was so appropriate for me at this point in my life. It is a reminder that you create your own reality, and as I get back into dating (don’t do it at this age!) it has been a good reminder that I get to set my expectations and make my choices for me and no one else.
Other than “just do it”, what advice would you offer a friend interested in a session to book with Jezebel? What tips might you give? What were the best tips you received either from us or from others?
Be open to the process.
It might be uncomfortable, but the confidence you will get when you see yourself through someone else’s eyes is worth every minute of it. The talking about life and the things that we are facing is so freeing and amazing and puts so much into perspective.
This client’s story really shows how magical a boudoir photoshoot can be in reclaiming our authentic selves. Her session with JVZ wasn’t just about taking beautiful photos; it was an uplifting, genuine space where she embraced the beautiful, empowered queen she sees in her photos.
