19 Jan Our Pay What You Can Event Celebrates Black History Month!
Have you been dying to have some photos done? Maybe you’ve been thinking about new headshots. Or perhaps you want some professional photos of your family or friend group. You may even just want to play in front of the camera, but you’re not ready to commit to a full session quite yet.
Well, dear reader, you are in luck! On Friday, February 24th Jezebel is holding another one of their famous Pay-What-You-Can events! And this time we’re celebrating Black History Month with all donations going to the National Black Women’s Justice Institute!
For one day only participants will have the opportunity to do a quick photo session to snag some fun photos, professional headshots, or even just celebrate themselves!
What is this event?
The Pay-What-You-Can event gives the community the chance to donate money to a worthy cause in exchange for a quick in-studio photo shoot. This is open to everyone and is designed for anyone who needs some photos and has a tight schedule. Each session will be 10 minutes long, which will be just enough time for us to capture you in whatever way you need!
We offer these once a quarter as a way to offer up our services to the community and donate to worthy causes.
This quarter we’re holding the photo shoots on Friday, February 24th from 10 am to 1 pm in our studio in downtown Snohomish!
What sets are available?
While our studio has many different sets that people can utilize during their individual sessions, they are limited during our community Pay What You Can events. You can choose from the following sets during your 10 minute session:
- The black paper set–with fog!!
- The red sofa
- Our famous Red Room seasonal set!
What kind of photos can I get?
First thing to note? This event is not for boudoir photos! Those take a lot more time, energy and planning. The intent of this event is for people to be able to get some fantastic professional photos quickly.
Some photos you can get taken at this event include:
- Headshots for your social media profile or website
- Family photos: when was the last time you had a portrait done of your family? Isn’t it time for a new one?
- Birthday pictures to celebrate your big day
- Friend photos: friends don’t always get a lot of opportunities to hang out, celebrate their bonds and have professional photos taken, so this is the perfect opportunity!
- Just because: you don’t need a reason to want to have a quick shoot!
What is included in this session?
You will get 10 minutes of session time and digital prints, which will be posted on Facebook and sent via a link up to two weeks after the event. Please note that your photos will be watermarked, but you can have that removed for an additional $100 donation.
Because these sessions are brief we are not not offering any hair and/or makeup for them. You must come to your session camera-ready and in the outfit you want to be photographed in.
How do I sign up?
People are strongly encouraged to sign up for their session ahead of time in order to secure their session. There are limited spaces available and you can sign up at this link. We may have spots open the day of the event, but they are not guaranteed, so if you want to take advantage you should register right now!
What is the investment?
We are doing this event as a fundraiser for the National Black Women’s Justice Initiative, which advocates for solutions to the criminalization of Black women and girls. The suggested minimum donation is $20 and you can either donate directly to the National Black Women’s Justice Initiative and show us your receipt or pay us cash at your session. Because this is a fundraiser we strongly encourage people to give as much as they can to help this cause that is near and dear to our hearts. We will also be matching all donations made to the NBWJI because we feel that this is such a worthy cause with their focuses on transforming the legal system through healing-centered justice, and race and gender equity.
Anything else that we need to know?
This event is open to all people, not just women. Each session is capped at four adults or five people total. Pets are not allowed. And be sure to come camera-ready (meaning your outfit is on and your hair and makeup is done) because you will not have time or space to change or have hair and makeup done before your shoot.
We’re so happy to be putting the Pay What You Can event on again and we’re even more excited to celebrate Black History Month by supporting the National Black Women’s Justice Association. We know this is going to be another great community event and you should sign up for your photo shoot ASAP! We can’t wait to welcome you to the studio and see how you shine!
