Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on womxn of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.

This self-described cultural nomad spent her early years traveling; collecting a lifetimes’ worth of experiences along the way. Her life has been filled with challenges, yet so too has it given her an abundance of opportunity. Read on to find out how this Belle navigates along her life’s journey and shines a bright light into the darkest of spaces to find exhilaration and empowerment.

Where are you from?

Born in Everett, Washington. My early years were nomadic, marked by constant movement. From the evergreen forests of Washington to the coastal and desert landscapes of California, the humid Gulf Coast of Texas, the heartland of Oklahoma, and the vibrant outskirts of Chicago, Illinois, each place I lived in offered unique experiences and lessons. These varied environments and communities shaped my worldview and instilled in me a deep appreciation for cultural diversity. Simply put… I am from everywhere! lol
 

What is your theme song?

My theme song is “Video” by India Arie. I feel the song emphasizes the importance of loving oneself despite societal pressures and standards of beauty. Lyrics like “I’m not the average girl from your video, and I ain’t built like a supermodel” highlight the acceptance of my own unique beauty. India Arie sings about staying true to herself and not conforming to unrealistic ideals which encourages us to embrace our true selves and live authentically. The song also stresses that true beauty comes from within. The focus on inner qualities rather than outward appearance is a refreshing reminder in a world that often prioritizes physical looks. Overall, “Video” is a powerful reminder to value oneself and one’s inner qualities, making it a great anthem for personal empowerment and self-acceptance.
 

What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?

The three words I choose are: healing, self-love, and strength.

Life is filled with challenges, and healing has been an essential part of my journey. Whether it’s recovering from emotional wounds or finding peace after difficult times, healing is a process that has taught me patience and resilience.
 
Learning to love myself has been transformative. It’s about accepting who I am, celebrating my strengths, and forgiving my imperfections. Self-love is a continuous journey, and I hope to help inspire others to embark on their own paths towards self-acceptance and inner peace.
Lastly, Strength isn’t just about physical power; it’s about mental and emotional fortitude. The challenges I’ve faced have tested my limits and helped me grow stronger. I believe that strength comes from overcoming obstacles and learning from our experiences.  

Is this your first Jezebel shoot? If not how many have you had?

This my first ever shoot and this marks the start of an exciting journey I plan to take with Jezebel.
 

Why did you decide to book a session with JVZ?

Life has a way of surprising us, especially when we least expect it. Last fall, while navigating one of the darkest and most traumatic periods of my life, I made a decision that would alter my path in ways I couldn’t have imagined. It was a time filled with pain and uncertainty, and in an attempt to find a spark of light, I entered the Goddess contest. Little did I know, this decision would become a blessing in disguise.

Being a winner of the Goddess contest was a turning point for me. It became a beacon of hope, lighting  the path to recovery and self-empowerment. The recognition and support I received from the Jezebel community, those closest to me, the Ladies of Jezebel and one special Jezebel’s Belle helped me rebuild my confidence and embrace my journey.

How did you feel before your shoot? 

The road to Jezebel was more than just a physical journey; it was a metaphorical ride through my emotions, filled with highs and lows. My car was filled with songs that encouraged strength and positivity, serving as a temporary balm for my anxious heart.
 
As we neared Jezebel, circling the block a few times in search of that elusive lucky parking spot, my anxiety began to rise. The uncertainty of what was to come weighed heavily on my mind. Once parked, I faced the infamous mountain of stairs leading up to Jezebel. Each step seeming to be a physical manifestation of the emotional climb I had been enduring. By the time I reached the top and sat on the bench, I began to physically tremble, the fight, flight, or freeze response taking over. However, everything changed the moment I walked into the bedroom studio. The cozy, intimate setting immediately started to put me at ease. Sitting on the bed, surrounded by the items I had brought with me, I started to feel a sense of calm wash over me. Sara and Tiffany, with their warm and welcoming presence, created a safe space for me to relax and I began to feel a sense of peace and readiness for the experience I was about to have.

 

How was your session? What was your favorite part?

My session was absolutely AMAZING!!!! Throughout the shoot, I navigated a range of emotions from nervous anticipation to empowered exhilaration. The experience was not just about capturing images; it was about reclaiming my inner strength and embracing my beauty in all its forms. Each click of the camera felt like a celebration of resilience and growth.

My favorite part—the moment Sara asked, “How are you feeling?” as we prepared to leave the Luxe studio. My spontaneous response? “Like I’m ready to get naked!” It was a perfect blend of nerves, excitement, and humor. Breaking tensions and setting the tone for what I was looking forward to most…. Angel Wings!

What was your favorite look from your session? Why?

I must say, I am having the hardest time choosing a favorite look because each one holds a special place in my heart. The pink ruffles in the first look exuded such a feminine charm and gave me major Bridgerton vibes.

On the other hand, the ruffles, blues, and deep purple shades of my dress of the second look, combined with the colors of the Luxe studio, transported me to 1920’s -1930’s club nights in a tropical paradise – quite a dreamy experience. I also couldn’t agree more with my friend’s observation about the resemblance to the Titanic scene where Jack is drawing a beautiful likeness of Rose. It’s like stepping into a romantic and cinematic world.

And how can I not mention the breathtakingly beautiful black nightgown and angel wings? They made me feel truly free and vulnerable in the most beautiful way possible.

How are you feeling since your session?

I have felt that entering the Goddess contest was more than just a spontaneous decision for me—it was a lifeline during a period of deep struggle. At the time, I was grappling with overwhelming trauma that had left me feeling adrift and powerless. It was a desperate grasp at something positive, a flicker of hope amidst the darkness.

But since that session, something profound has shifted within me. I no longer feel lost; instead, I feel an inner strength growing steadily. The experience has awakened a sense of resilience I’d forgotten I had. It’s not just about the external beauty captured in those photographs; it’s about reclaiming my own sense of self-worth and beauty.

For so long, I struggled to see myself in a positive light, doubting the words of encouragement from others. Yet now, I stand before the images and see myself through different eyes—the eyes of those who have seen my journey, my struggles, and my growth. Their words of admiration and support no longer feel distant or unattainable; they resonate within me as a newfound belief in my own strength and beauty.

This journey has taught me that healing is not linear. It’s about embracing moments of vulnerability and allowing ourselves to be seen in our most authentic light. Through the lens of that photo session, I’ve discovered a renewed sense of self-assurance and a deeper appreciation for the resilience that resides within me.

I share this not just as a reflection on a single moment captured in time, but as a testament to the transformative power of self-acceptance and the healing journey that continues to unfold since my session.

Did you bring anything special with you to the studio? Why?

The special item I brought with me was a rose quartz prayer mala I made which holds deep significance to me since the loss of both my mother and grandmother. Rose quartz, representing the eternal bond between mother and child. Bringing it was the best way I could think of to represent having them with me on such a big day. <3

How was your reveal?

Well, I signed onto zoom fully prepared, armed with a box of tissues, knowing I’d be a complete emotional wreck. The night before, when I caught a glimpse of my sneak peek photo, I had a total emotional breakdown. The moment of the reveal itself was a whirlwind of emotions—I laughed at the unexpected moments, tears welled up in my eyes at the sheer beauty of it all, and I couldn’t help but oooh and aaah at every detail. My heart was overflowing with joy, eagerly anticipating the moment when I would have them all in my happy little hands. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, but every single second was worth it!

Any advice for anyone thinking of booking a session with JVZ?

DO NOT listen to the negative voices in your head, or anyone saying “you can’t” for one reason or another. YES YOU CAN!! You only have to be brave enough to climb the mountain of stairs. Once you get to the top the Ladies of Jezebel will wrap you in warm and calming energy as you experience one of the best and most memorial times of your life!
