Client Feature Friday: Dungeons, Dragons, and the Princess who would be Queen

Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on womxn of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.

Welcome to a world of literature, princesses, swords and dragons – this week we’re talking with a client who found us at Emerald City Comic Con. In sharing her experience with the Jezebel studio, this beautiful Belle transcends the pages of her favorite novels, and the encounters of Dungeons and Dragons to find her inner Queen!

Age (only if you want to disclose it):

28

Where are you from?

Woodinville, Washington

What is your theme song?

 “Too Precious” by Em Beihold

What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?

1. Friendly

2. Creative

3. Thoughtful

Is this your first Jezebel shoot? If not how many have you had?

Yes

Why did you decide to book a session with JVZ?

I came across the Jezebel booth at Comic Con and fell in love with their photos. I’ve done cosplay photoshoots before, but rarely do I have my picture taken outside of that.  When I’m just me, I don’t have the same confidence that I do when I’m in cosplay and I was hoping that the session would be an opportunity to change that.

How did you feel before your shoot?

I was nervous and excited. I love getting dressed up, but I am very conscious of my body and the parts that I don’t necessarily have right. I’ve had instances before where I’ll do a photoshoot only to get the photos back and immediately feel like the features that I don’t like were glaringly obvious.

How was your session? What was your favorite part?

It was so much fun! I think my favorite part was bantering with Sarah and Nikki throughout the shoot. They were so kind and encouraging, always giving compliments and bolstering my confidence. The whole atmosphere was extremely inviting and it made the session fly by.

What was your favorite look from your session? Why?

My favorite look was the one we did in the yellow dress, which surprised me. I was hesitant about how it would look at first due to it having cut outs and being pretty form fitting, but I absolutely loved how it looked on me. It made me think of a dress one might wear to Prom or to another formal event, which was special because when I went to Prom I didn’t have the confidence to pick something similar to wear. I went with a “safer” option and ended up feeling like I didn’t belong next to my friends because my dress didn’t match everyone else’s. Wearing the yellow dress and feeling confident and beautiful fulfilled that longing I had as a senior in high school.

How are you feeling since your session?

I am feeling amazing. I get so excited every time I look at the photos and can’t wait to share them with my loved ones. It has inspired me to be more confident in how I present myself and was a great reminder that I don’t need to cosplay to be pretty or noticeable.

Did you bring anything special with you to the studio? Why?

The things I brought with me that were special were my dice collection and a book. I’ve always loved reading and it is often what I share any time I’m asked to talk about a hobby or something people should know about me. Over the years books have been a constant source of joy and comfort, providing an escape when times are hard, something that helps me connect to others, and a way to expand my knowledge. My dice are special to me because getting into TTRPGs, especially Dungeons and Dragons, was how I made some of my closest friends and is now one of the things I look forward to every week.

How was your reveal?

It was so much fun. I’ll admit I was nervous, I fully expected to look at some of the pictures and feel self-conscious or find flaws in myself. But instead, as soon as the slideshow started I had a surge of dopamine hit me. I found myself remembering all the fun I had during the session and started picking out things I liked about myself instead of things I didn’t.

Any advice for anyone thinking of booking a session with JVZ?

Don’t be afraid to lean into the vibe you want to go with completely. I started with just describing the type of shoot as girly/princessy because I wanted to feel like a Disney princess, but we ended up going full princess and I couldn’t be happier. Use the session as a time to embrace the parts of yourself that you might not regularly get to celebrate!

This client’s story really shows how magical a boudoir photoshoot can be in boosting body positivity and embracing who you truly are. Her session found her leaning into her passions of gaming and cosplay, and realizing her inner princess is a queen worthy of celebration!

What do you find yourself passionate about? Do you too want to escape into a world where you have the ability to love and celebrate exactly who you are? Maybe you want to boost your confidence, or you’re ready to see yourself how others see you? A boudoir shoot could be exactly what you need. Feeling inspired by this client’s experience? Why not book a session for yourself? It’s a chance to see yourself in a new light and unlock a whole new level of empowerment. Go for it—your future self will thank you!
