Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on womxn of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.
In a world that often feels it’s their duty to tell everyone else how we should live, dress, love and breathe – finding a space that allows each of us to be our authentic selves is a rare and incredibly refreshing feeling. Our beautiful client this week shares with us their journey to authenticity and the affirmation of being not only seen, but celebrated during their session with Jezebel!
Age (only if you want to disclose it):
33
Where are you from?
Tacoma, WA
What is your theme song?
‘I am not a woman, I’m a god’ by Halsey AND ‘Too Sweet’ by Hozier
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Chaotic, Authentic, Determined
Is this your first Jezebel shoot? If not how many have you had?
It is my first
Why did you decide to book a session with JVZ?
I won half off at ECCC which made it more affordable, and then looking at the vibes of the posts on socials sold me on actually scheduling.
How did you feel before your shoot?
A bit nervous but excited. My nervousness was in part because of how long it had been since I’d been in front of the camera, and in part because I wasn’t sure how it would go, as I’m a masc-leaning nonbinary person.
How was your session? What was your favorite part?
The session was great! Everyone present was willing to mask for my safety (I’m immunocompromised), they were both super affirming of my identity, and it was overall so wonderful! Honestly I can’t pick a favorite part because it was all great!
What was your favorite look from your session? Why?
I’m a polyamorous, nonbinary, bisexual switch- I can’t choose just one thing to save my life! I loved all three because they each showed off who I am.
How are you feeling since your session?
Excited to see the results!
Did you bring anything special with you to the studio? Why?
Does saying “myself” count? There wasn’t any particular prop or anything that was special, so maybe just the clothes I brought? Everything I wore that was mine has been part of my journey in being my authentic self.
How was your reveal?
It was so good! I loved getting to see how everything came together.
Any advice for anyone thinking of booking a session with JVZ?
Treat yourself when you can! The whole experience is so worth the investment.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Being seen a nonbinary guy in a session like this is so important. I really hope to inspire other trans and nonbinary folks to allow themselves a treat like this experience! It’s so fucking affirming to be seen and celebrated in a space that stereotypically is seen as “just for cis women”. I’m happy to be proof that shoots with JVZ can be affirming for people, regardless of gender identity!
This client’s story really shows how important and freeing it can be to celebrate our authentic selves.More than the beautiful memories they can revisit, it’s also a feeling of community, love and acceptance that is necessary to nourish our true selves.
If you’ve been dealing with poor body image, want to boost your confidence, or just want to capture your own unique story, a boudoir shoot could be exactly what you need. Feeling inspired by this client’s experience? Why not book a session for yourself? It’s a chance to see yourself in a new light and unlock a whole new level of empowerment. Go for it—your future self will thank you!
