08 Nov Client Feature Friday: You Are What You Love
Jezebel VonZephyr loves to shine a spotlight on womxn of every age and size. We live to connect with each client; and we pride ourselves on holding space for each of them so we can hear their stories and capture their unique spirit. We believe that every session is special in its own way, and we want to share that magic with the world. On Fridays we shine a spotlight on a client so they can share a part of their story.
Happy Friday beautiful friends! November brings with it the beauty of a new season and feelings of warmth, both for others as well as ourselves.
Our client feature Friday this week introduces us to a loving and loyal Belle who has a fondness for the rain, Taylor Swift and the spirited streets of her new home in Portland. After winning a session at ECCC, this beautiful soul reclaimed her femininity, discovered feelings of empowerment and took home the knowledge that her uniqueness is a strength ♥
Where are you from? Where do you live now? What’s your favorite thing about where you live?
I’m from a small town in Oregon, Where they filmed the Halloween Town movies and part of Twilight! I just moved to Portland! I absolutely love the rain 🙂
What are some of your favorite songs/artists? Do you have a theme song–if so, what is it and why does that song(s) resonate with you?
I’m a huge Swifty! So obviously Taylor Swift is my favorite artist, also kinda an emo kid and LOVE Fallout Boy! My theme song would have to be:
‘Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?’
I’ve always been the outcast, in every aspect of my life. People underestimate me and don’t expect much but I always show up and do what I’m supposed to be doing and do it well. Underdog for life but secretly a main character.
What are three words you’d use to describe yourself?
Eccentric, Loving, Loyal
Is this your first Jezebel session? If not, how many have you had and in either instance, what was your favorite part?
Yes, this is my first session! I loved how kind everyone is and how if you have anxieties and triggers they are very careful to make you comfortable.
What made you want to have a boudoir session and what made you choose Jezebel as your studio?
I was assaulted by someone very close to me and wanted to take my sexuality and femininity back. I actually won a photo shoot at comic con! But I was looking into getting photos done for a while 🙂
What were your expectations going into the session and was the experience different or as you expected and how?
I wasn’t sure what to expect, I was very nervous. The experience was so empowering and was more than I could ever imagine. The amount of comfort and care they put into everything about the session is outstanding.
Tell me about your session–your favorite set? outfit? prop? moment? favorite studio piece you used/wore? What stood out the most?
My favorite part was standing in my heels, everyone made me feel so tall and sexy, I’m already tall but this was the first time I felt sexy that I had long legs. I also liked that I could bring my ghost face knife. And the jewelry was to die for! I loved all their options!
How did you feel about the guidance you received during the session?
Great, I loved the attention and care they gave.
Tell us about your hair styling/makeup application? How was your time in the chair? What did you really love?
I didn’t have my hair styled (I’m a curly girly so I did my own hair) but I LOVED my makeup, I kept it on all day, the makeup artist asked how I liked my makeup done and was very knowledgeable in eye shapes and enhancing your features.
How do you feel JVZ managed your privacy and confidentiality, both of your images and of you during your time with us?
Wonderfully, I never felt uncomfortable and they communicate beautifully.
How were you feeling leaving the studio and leading up to your photo reveal appointment?
I felt great leaving the appointment and was excited to see the photos!
How was your reveal appointment? What did you like the most about it? What did you take home with you?
The reveal appointment was good, I loved seeing the photos and the ones that made me feel uneasy/ uncomfortable they removed so I didn’t need to see them on my profile, I have struggled with body image issues for a long time and they understood that and was very helpful. I was very shocked at the price for receiving the photos though, I do wish I knew how much they would cost before the appointment. I won a free calendar and am purchasing digital images by using their amazing payment plan for us who can’t purchase outright 🙂
Have you had any lasting impact/perspective shifts since your appointment? If so, please share as much as you’re comfortable with.
I wish I wasn’t so hard on myself for how I was feeling during the shoot. I have been struggling with medical issues and gained weight and had hives and scars and the wonderful humans who were in charge of makeup, shooting, and outfits made me feel sexy anyway. When I left I felt so happy that even through I was suffering inside they made me feel loved and beautiful and I’ve been trying to keep that feeling with me ever since.
Other than “just do it”, what advice would you offer a friend interested in a session to book with Jezebel? What tips might you give? What were the best tips you received either from us or from others?
I would tell them that it is so uplifting and if they need a little happiness that they should take time for themselves to do this. I would have them bring outfits they love so they can capture how you feel in your own clothes too, not just the studio clothes because then you can wear that same outfit later and feel empowered all over again.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Just, thank you. Thank you for understanding my financial struggles and working with me on payment with my grandfather being sick, it’s been really hard. And thank you for having someone who has invisible illnesses of her own feeling like I’m wanted, loved, and that my uniqueness is a powerful thing not a weakness.
This client’s story really shows how magical a boudoir photoshoot can be in reclaiming our authentic selves. Her session with JVZ wasn’t just about taking beautiful photos; it was a safe, supportive space where she could really celebrate her journey find strength in her true self.
