06 May BodyTalks: Tummy Tuesday!
On Tuesdays, We Talk Tummies..
At Jezebel, we celebrate you. This encompasses every facet of who you are – who WE all are. We show you ways to see yourself through the lens of unconditional love, and we understand that some days it’s easy to appreciate ourselves, and other times it can be more of a challenge.
This is where we want to flip the script and really talk about what our bodies can do for us. Honest discussions can lead to acceptance, and acceptance can open our eyes to the possibilities of love.
Tuesdays at Jezebel are all about tummies! Each week we’ll be showcasing some of our favorite images where they have a starring role. We’ll be discussing the challenges we face with an often disliked part of our bodies and hopefully turning those conversations towards ones of appreciation.
But what if I don't like my tummy?!
This week we’re starting a mini-series on how a boudoir session can change our lives! We’ll start by sharing a few ways we’ve seen boudoir help womxn connect with themselves – a huge step in re-writing the (sometimes negative)relationship we’ve established with ourselves over the years.
Next week, we’ll be diving in to how to prepare for your session, both emotionally and mentally ♥
The third installment is a surprise, but we promise – it’s going to be great!
Let’s start by saying this– boudoir can be a deeply transformative experience that reshapes how you see yourself! Standing confidently in front of a camera, and embracing your body and sensuality can feel incredibly liberating—especially in a world that often pressures people to conform to narrow beauty standards.
For many, this is the first time they’ve truly felt in control of their image and narrative, and this (sometimes newfound) empowerment carries over into other areas of life—from relationships to our career to how we talk to ourselves, replacing criticism with kindness and affirmation!
Loving our bodies is a journey
All too often, boudoir shoots can seem like a luxury, or something associated only as being gifts to other people. Jezebel is here to remind you that boudoir is, first and foremost – for you! This week we’re going over several reasons coming in for a shoot is not only to treat yo’ self (though that’s totally a complete and valid reason!) but can also be a fun way to lean into loving your body, and your entire self, exactly as you are ♥
1. A Boudoir Photoshoot Celebrates Your Unique Beauty
Boudoir photography emphasizes your individuality. Seeing professional, flattering images of yourself can challenge everything negative your inner-mean-girl is saying, and at Jezebel we encourage you to bring your favorite props, outfits, hobbies or fandoms to your shoot with you! We’re showing you how to see yourself through the lens of unconditional love, and that begins with loving all of yourself. So, bring your favorite rolling pin and apron, your D&D Dice, or that really amazing lab coat and let’s dive in!
2. Empowers Body Positivity
Boudoir encourages you to embrace your body, regardless of shape, size, age, or perceived imperfections. Many people walk away with a new appreciation for their body and how it can be both strong and sensual. Even if you’re not ready to love yourself just yet, liking your self, or heck, even just your legs, or your tummy or your hands, is planting a seed for a relationship that will grow into one of self-appreciation, empowerment and eventually, love.
3. Breaks Down Insecurity and Shame
Choosing to be seen in an intimate and vulnerable way—and doing so on your own terms—can help you confront and move past long-held insecurities. It’s a bold step toward owning your confidence. At Jezebel, we encourage you to be as vulnerable as you’re ready to be, whether that’s fully naked, fully-clothed or any step in-between! We’re also here to make you feel comfortable, whether that’s turning up the AC, asking your makeup and hair preferences, or designing layered looks for your outfits – we’re beside you the whole way ♥
4. Reinforces Self-Love and Confidence
Preparing for the shoot—choosing outfits, having your hair and makeup done by our amazing team, working with Sara, your incredible photographer—puts the focus on you in a positive, nurturing way. The experience itself is empowering, and fun, and fiery while your images become tangible proof of your strength, beauty, and vulnerability—all in one.
5. Helps You Reclaim Your Narrative
While this can be especially true for people who’ve experienced trauma, poor body image, or a critical inner voice, all of us have days where we feel like we just don’t quite measure up. Whether that’s at work, with family, or just with society in general, a session with Jezebel can be a way to take control of how you see yourself—through your lens, not others’. Our entire mission is to inspire you to see yourself through the lens of unconditional love! Connecting with, and embracing the Queen you are, whether it’s for the first time or the fifteenth time, is one of our favorite things to witness– and we’re here to help every womxn we meet do just that ♥
